Any AEM dealers here?
« on: August 09, 2010, 03:02:59 PM »

I'm looking at running the series 2 EMS, EPM, and pencil coils on the H.  Best prices i have seen yet are through bisi and i really dont want to give him my money.  Not quite about to throw the money at it since i got a few other things to finish paying off before i need to worry about it.

Thanks nigs

why use homodata when i have neptune and ectune?

I'm going to run AEM because i honestly dont want to use a honda ecu and i want to run COP.  300whp NA is a boat load of power.  I know both neptune and ectune could handle it, but i want to go a different route.  The other management i was looking at was DTAfast but the only problem with DTA is you have to either buy a custom engine harness or you have to build your own (they sell a harness build kit).  Bisi has the AEM for 1100, the EPM is 300, the pencil coil kit is 250 and the CDI box is 300.  the EPM/pencil coil is damn near plug and play with its EMS so why not?  I've gone balls out with everything else on this build....

30-6060 $914.40.

I don't have a price on the EPM or CDI but I can inquire.

AEM pencil coils = dumb.  Get CBR coils with harness for $20-35 shipped from eBay.

If you want Honda ECU + COP I can probably hook it up if you buy a Launchpad.  I can get turbo Cayenne coils for a little under $20/per, not including connectors - these would work (after having 0.050" taken off them) without a CDI and can be controlled either by AEM or Launchpad.  Honestly, the AEM v2.0 appears to deal with VR sensors correctly now (they finally implemented 1985 technology, so awe inspiring) but it's so shiny new there's really nothing known about it yet.  I'd pass.

All this is my cost, not including shipping, and has to go through my boss' OK first.

i found some 04 CBR's on ebay for 30 shipped....hmmm.  Good bit cheaper than the pencil coils and im sure the wire the same way to the CDI box.

JD, if you could please get me a price on the EPM and the twin fire CDI box, i would appreciate it.  I really want to run the AEM v2 as I have talked to quite a few people who have used it as well as the V1 and say the difference was instantly noticeable.  I know you say pass but i tend to do what people tell me not to do LOL.....and  I know it may be stupid to some but i want to get away from the stock distributor and ecu with this build and it be as easy as possible.  The money isnt a big deal with me.  There is always going to be a weak point left behind in every build but i want to do my best to limit them as much as possible as well as reducing "dumb" errors from stupid shit that doesnt work as intended

I'd say AEM falls under stupid shit that doesn't work as intended.  OEM is invariably better than aftermarket.

its sad that i would rather just throw money at it than come up with a solution myself.  Like converting my OBD2 distributor harness to OBD1.  I've gotten so deep into the cost of this build that i just dont care anymore lol.

i blame my laziness to work on my own car on having to work on others cars 40 hours a week.
