can a itr lsd diff be modded to fit a ls?
« on: September 06, 2010, 04:26:07 PM »

I've never had one side by side, I know you can swap final drives but I need the stock ls gear ratios so thats out. Any other ideas other then just getting a m-factory lsd?

I was told from m-factory that a b16 diff lsd will fit LS trans. You will need to shave some of the trans case.

It will work just fine if you use a GSR final drive set.

 :P

The bolt pattern for the ring gear is the main thing that keeps the ITR LSD from working with an LS transmission.  The GSR/ITR use a larger bolt pattern ring gear than B16/B17/LS ring gear.

yes, the itr has a 116.8mm whole in the gear and the ls is 109mm. Can a guy machine down a itr diff and redrill the bolt pattern? Is the flange were the ring gear sits the same hight?

use GSR FD and CS with LS gears????

only 3% difference

7000 rpms with LS FD = 7200 rpms with GSR FD......

B16/B17 has 130mm bolt pattern and 110mm crown opening

http://www.quaife.co.uk/sites/default/files/drawings/QDF1U.pdf

GSR/ITR has 138mm bolt pattern and 117mm crown opening

http://www.quaife.co.uk/sites/default/files/drawings/QDF6U.pdf

Kiwi at GearX was telling me they had tried making the ring gears with 117mm crorn opening and dual bolt patterns without issues.

I have thought of that but I'm already under geared for what I want. Supposedly a y1 jdm lsd diff fits, but from what I hear they are one piece (cant take off the ring gear??) and that could be tough to find.

Like using LS rods in a D16 when after the costs they end uo costing more that the cheap H beams.

Stock ITR power can break the ITR LSD.....

Quit being a broke dick :)
