Anybody have any experience with these nogs and their tuning junk? We just bought a flash interface, but we have to download the tune from the computer, send it away and reload the upgraded tune...thinking about cutting the middleman.

On the ZX2? Are you doing your own tuning or is someone else doing it or sending you tunes or what? I poked around their forum last night just trying to get a handle on the stuff.

i tune my zx2 myself.  its really simple to tune with it.  its all drop down screens.  first you make a base tune and then you modify the existing tune after its been saved.  the forum is usefull.

What we have here is basically a re-flasher for Fords. Its supposed to work for anything OBD2. We bought it mostly for diesel trucks. Doing EGR delete kits on 6.0L diesels occasionally sets the CEL for a no EGR flow condition, so we flash a tune for no EGR function(which mechanically it has anyway) and an extra 50hp.

I was exploring tuning in general with it and buying the expensive software for shop use. Apparently it works quite well on some Mustangs and a few others. We are looking into purchasing a dyno in the next few years so I'm trying to familiarize myself with as many different platforms as possible and choose the ones that will best suit our needs here. Tuning gas engines I can manage, but I do want to start tuning diesels too.

96-04, their product is vastly overpriced.

What we have will pay for itself very quickly and continue to be an asset. But for actual tuning, what do you suggest?

Don't you have to sell a programmer with every vehicle?

With DF don't you have to sell a license with every vehicle?

Yeah, which we would buy including the tune for $150 and sell for $350 vs. buying a programmer for $350 and selling it for $400. We are looking into getting into tuning for real though, which is why I am asking "whats the better way to go as a professional tuner?"

A fair piece of our tuning income will come from diesels. Not everyone wants to spend $1000+ on a kick-ass programmer. Most guys would be happy with exhaust/intake and a 50-100hp tune.

IDK SCTs price on the Ford handhelds, but they quoted me $99/per when I priced the SRT-4 dealer package.
