RDX injectors and their ability to run lean?
« on: September 12, 2010, 04:50:22 PM »

Unless there is something I am missing here, I fucking love these injectors.

I can idle smooth as silk at 16.5:1 A/F as well as cruise with no loss in throttle response.  I ASSume this is a result of the ridiculously good atomization.

WOT is around 12.5 A/F while under boost.  Only running 7 lb on a GT2560.

In contrast to this, my DSM 450 cc/min blue tops cannot successfully idle any leaner than about 15.5:1 without giving me lean missfires.  Granted this is on two different cars,  but both longblocks are stock.

Does a turbo in the way of things affect indicated A/f at lower mass flow rates?

I doubt it, but anyone else on here decide to give the RDX injectors a try, and notice similar characteristics?

i would like to bump up base fuel pressure to where it is supposed to be with these, but some  Jew is taking their time shipping an FPR to me...

Dunno if I will ever rock anything less than the newer Bosch cores when budget allows form now on.

i found 55psi to be where my fuel maps were the smoothest.  I got 40mpg on the interstate with these injectors on my old h23vtec.  Loved them.  Excited to use the ID's.

That's where I plan to bump the base fuel pressure to.

I can idle smooth as silk at 16.5:1 A/F as well as cruise with no loss in throttle response.  I ASSume this is a result of the ridiculously good atomization.

I was running 17.2-17.5's off of stock injectors before I could physically feel power fade and pick back up due to closedloop switching.

Poor atomization goes hand in hand with larger cores, also super low idle rpms (400-600 rpms), right up until this very last generation of injectors right before everyone goes direct injection and shit gets expensive for a while.

I recall being able to run pretty lean on stock cores, but my experiences with the DSM cores has been less than great.  I don't recall being able to get stock cores to idle as lean as these do as smoothly as they do, but it has been a while since I have spent much time tuning anything besides my two piles of shit; neither of which run stock injectors anymore.
