well I have a crazy idea. Im gona un hook the wire that goes from the coil to the ignighter and hook a wire from the coil (where the wire was tht ran to the ignighter)and kick the key on, and take tap it to the valve cover. It will eather thrwa big fucking blue spark, or a yellow/orange spark. That will tell me if its the power feeding the coil thats weak, or after the coil its weak.

Well I unhooked the wire that goes from the coil to the igniter, left it attached to the coil and kicked the key on, then I taped the wire to ground and I get a nice blue spark. So the coil is getting good power, and so is the igniter. I also checked the blue (tac signal)wire that goes from the igniter to the ecu and its getting 12v with the key on. Now I dont know if this matters or not, but I put a test light on the same blue wire and it wont lite up a test light. So im wondering it its reading 12v but it wont carry the amps?

Man im so done with this car.

what makes you so sure?

What ignitor wire did you take off? that short little one to the coil? do you have any other ignitors you could possibly try? I am thinking it might be defective.

Already did that and it tested good. I have a sneaky suspicion its the igniter. Gona yard mine out of my car and see if that works. I work late tonight and early tomorrow, so I think its gona be tomorrow afternoon b4 I mess with it again. Autozone can test obd1 ignitors... I dunno about yours but its worth a shot...

If you turn the motor over and watch for spark and it is very very faint, about 1/4 of an inch, but there to the slightest bit, then the ignitor is good. Ignitors put out a very small amount of spark when the coil takes a shit.

I'm telling you, change that shit coil, you'll thank me later.

Im gona try the coil first, Then if that dont fix shit, I will try the igniter. If that dont fix it I will then try setting it on fire and collecting the insurance money and see if that works.  :yes:

If you see the littlest amount of spark, then the ignitor is good. You should be able to get a coil fairly cheap.

Well no chance to work on it today. My father-in-law got tboned in his crx. And broke his ankle, couple of ribs, and got a concussion. Been out at there place setting up arangments to go pick it up tomorrow. Hes gona be ok, but the crx is  .......


I will have pis up in a few days of the crx. We are gona go to the yard that has the crx and bring it back to there place. Once the insurance comes out and takes a look and says its totaled, Im gona rip all the parts off it. Its to bat because we were getting ready to turbo it this winter.

89 hf with all the the stuff from his 89 si put on it. The 89 hf was 100% straight as fuck. The si body was a little beat up. So we swaped everything over. Brakes, stearing rack, motor/trans, cluster, suspention....yada yada yada......



Bet he wish he had a roll cage after he got hit. The car took a pretty good hit. about 40mph right in the drivers side door. The kid that hit him was driving a 92 teg. I guess his car is totaled out too.

Well I fucken give up. Off to the repair shop it goes. Not my car, not my problem. I've got 3 other cars wating to come into my garage and I can't suck it up with this dead rock. But this is the first car I have ever drip me....  hope its the last but I doubt it.

Yep tried 2 good working coils, tried good working igniter, tried 2 good distributers. Tried a different ecu. Fuck man Im totaly stumped. So off it goes.

There is a crank sensor down by the crank pulley that goes bad too as well.

if the fuel pump primes and cel goes off consider the main relay working just fine besides where do you get off thinking your the master of diagnosis? if you dont have any idea and certainly dont read what is going on how do you suspect the issues.

sounds to me light power to the dizzy or a ground...  since you literally tried everything else out.

did you try the parts off the bad car on one that you know is good or only good parts on a junk car... it could be possible that 2 different problems (2 different wires) are coming together to cause it...

So I even took a jumper cable and went from the ground on the battery and clamped it to the body of the dizzy to see if it was a bad ground possibly. Fuck I was trying everything I could. And now I didn't try the bad parts on the good cars.
