Does anyone know an easy way to?...
« on: October 05, 2010, 09:06:15 AM »

Drop the oil pan on a real-time 4wd honda?  I just bought a 91 wagovan n the oil light goes out slow n it's rattling like it may be a bearing.  I've already adjusted the valves so I'm looking elsewhere for the noise.  It looks like I have to remove a lot of stuff to simply drop the oil pan.  Do y'all know any short cuts?

I just pulled the motor/trans out when I had to change oil pick-ups.  rt4wd pick-up is different from other d's.

I've heard of people pulling the transfer case off of the tranny, and then dropping the pan.

Best thing about pulling a rt4wd is no bitch pin :)

I'll post pics of a set of those bent and twisted up.  Bitch pins earned their name for a reason.

Maybe its just a non rusted west coast thing, because a bfh and the right  size roll pin punch and 5 swings later its out and I'm trying to figure out where it went.

I use the T-bar on a tap handle I have for bitch pins.  Perfect fit and the right length so you can swing a hammer under the car and still hit the damn thing square.

I was wondering how hard I can hit it with a hammer without breaking anything in the transmission? I've read somewhere that it's very bad to use a hammer  ???

I used this totorial http://www.performanceforum.com/wesvann/honda/bitch/bitch.html

but forget about it. First, theres no place under the car to fit the C-clamp, second, theres no place under the car to fit the C-clamp. So it didn't work very well ;)

PB Blaster, tap handle, 2lb mini sledge.  3 6" swings from the ground and it's out.

I have absolutely wailed on one, so hard it messed up the punch, and never hurt the transmission. PB Blaster that thing an hour before you beat on it

Mix a little atf and acetone, apply an hour to a day in advance, and then use an air hammer, bitch pin is butter.

Air hammer has defeated all bitch pins but two.

One now uses a bolt to hold the linkage on without any slop...slot the end piece :)

Fuck, why didn't I use the zip gun? Anyway, by cutting the rod it forced me to repair the 5" play I had on the shifter...

Per CRX Lee Grimes of Koni USA.....

The linkage to the shift shaft on the tranny where the bitch pin goes through, relief slices were cut parallel with the ground. That way when you crank the bolt down it pinches onto the shift shaft.

But I have an issue with this...if you use the bolt you must remove the dust bellow or getting into 2-4-R is tricky even just bench shifting.

My bench shifter.......

You're all a bunch of flatulent vaginas.  Why don't you fags try to hit it with your purse?

This thread has nothing to do with the bitch pin, which has never given me a problem in my life...  Man the fuck up n smash that pin like it's an o.d.ing supermodel.

So none of you kids have pulled an oilpan off one of these before?  Was it Highroller that built the tprc?  I guess that's where I'll look next...

I copied this from HCW:

1. remove the engine splash shield

2. drain engine oil

3. drain tranny oil

4. remove exhaust pipe A (downpipe)

5. disconnect the propeller shaft (drivesaft) at the tranny

6. remove the tranny splash shield

7.remove the transfer left side cover from the transfer case. (where the driveshaft connected to on the transfer case, remove those bolts)

Note: be careful not to damage the thrust shim and mating surface

8. remove the driven gear from the transfer case

9. remove the transfer case from the clutch housing

10.remove the clutch case cover

11. remove the oil pan by removing the bolts and nuts

pan is out!!

here is a pic of a modified oil pan that is easily removed:
http://www.hondacivicwagon.com/bb/download/file.php?id=675

I was also reading about some folks taking all the studs out of the bottom of the block and using only bolts that way you can slide the pan side ways off the engine.

This thread has nothing to do with the bitch pin,

So none of you kids have pulled an oilpan off one of these before?  Was it Highroller that built the tprc?  I guess that's where I'll look next...

I bet there's not that many rt4wd owners on here.

If you suspect internal issues, wouldn't it be easier in the long run to pull the motor and have it in a engine stand.

I think this sounds almost as resonalble as spiker's mom's rates.  I think I'll try it.  Thank you.

Pulling the motor is not being considered as an option yet 'cause my garage is occupied with the scattered mess of the shiny car.

I was being sarcastic.  I know about Jaker's build n all of it's fat tire, fenderflared, two-tone flat black goodness...

I think my current plan is to either tack weld or stake the nuts to the studs so they'll back out in a simple fashion.
