Tip for web development... learn Javascript. It's simple and very much in demand.. and also surprisingly not as common as you would think. I don't mean normal client side jscript, I mean Ajax, ExtJS, etc. Gmail, iGoogle, Facebook, etc are all pretty much entirely Ajax. You know how shit updates on the page without the whole page refreshing? That's Ajax. Web 2.0 is big right now because it provides a richer user experience, almost like a complete application (Outlook) on a web page (Gmail).
