In order for this to be effective all phones would be required to have their GPS turned on at all times which would cripple battery life. Face it, aside from the fact that it's nanny state bullshit that makes you LESS safe in an emergency, the amount of money the govt would spend to legislate and implement this would go 10 figures before you could blink. Considering you MIGHT save a FEW lives, its not fucking worth it. NEXT!

hey faggot. look at the trillions we spent on the war on drugs and the trillions we spent on the war on terror and look how much safer we are. have you seen a second 9/11 yet? i dont think so. were safer because of it.

.......  i actually disagree with you the war on drugs is a joke and the war on terror is a fucking scam.... and we are NOT safer than when 9/11 first happened the only change was we lost liberties and are becoming a communist policy gov with "democratic" processes.

Damn buk, you just totally changed my opinion.

Hey are you towel head types still allowed to use "radical" as a synonym for cool, or is that now considered terrorism?

Confronted with a massive outage of BlackBerry services for three days last week, motorists in the United Arab Emirates hung up and drove.

Police in Abu Dhabi and Dubai are crediting the service disruption for dramatically safer roads. Police say accidents fell 20% in Dubai (typically there is an accident every three minutes, they say), and 40% in Abu Dhabi.

Meh, a meager 20-40%!  Not worth the trouble.

Police. In the middle east. Told you that. Over the internet.

There's a reason why it smells like bullshit.

You're right.  They have a lot to gain from that bullshit.
