Any full-bodied rally car that can run a lap at Estoril faster than the majority of the 1986 Formula One field is cool in my book..

And that was hard to do back then the F1 cars crazy amounts of power but the handling and tire tech wasn't there.

Just finish watching it for the second time.

The first form of porn that I manage to last through the whole 1hr +, twice and not have a sore wrist or be worn out.

Good find.

Reminds me of Audi Pikes Peak - Video  turn the volume up and enjoy

That vid so sweet with the camera angles.  :noel:

Every time I watch that pikes peak audi vid, I can't stop.

I always find it ironic that the best group b cars were mostly econoboxes. The real irony is that audis have turned into shitboxes.

Grand Prix - The Killer Years

Saw this a while back and I watch the Senna movie and was surprised at the safety standards at the time.

The Honda car in 1968, with the chassis made with Magnesium, wreck and caught on fire.

The fire could not be put out, because it burned too hot and the driver was burned alive.

The whole time the race kept going.

Roger Williamson Formula one fatal crash

This was possibly the saddest thing I've ever seen. Roger Williamson crashes and David Purley stops and tries to help the marshals put the fire out. They give up and he keeps trying and trying. They try to stop him and he fights them off. His body language when he realizes it's over just cuts a hole right through you.

yeah that was another rough moment F1 history, watch the Senna movie.

Watch how Senna watches his team mate almost lose his life.

Then knowing how the potential dangerousness of his car and drives anyways.

Then dies in qualifying.  :'( :'( :'( :'(

(Countryman- Barrichello- not teammate).

Then knowing how the potential dangerousness of his car and drives anyways.

Then dies in qualifying.  :'( :'( :'( :'( (actually, Ratzenberger died in qualifying, Senna died in the race itself).

I saw Senna about a week after it hit the theaters here. It was a decent movie, but lacked a lot of important stuff, IMO. I've been a formula one fan since the late 80's, and I vividly remember watching the race the morning of May 1. One thing that bothered me about the movie was that they used the wrong audio all the time. They tried to make the turbo-era cars sound like modern era cars. They also excluded the relationship between Senna and Prost. Not the rivalry, but the friendship that followed. He and Prost were actually very good friends right after Prost retired. Senna used to call him in the off-season to talk about where F1 was headed with the new technical regulations, etc. They even left out the audio from the formation lap of the San Marino GP where Senna wanted to say "hello to his good friend Alain" and that he missed him. Prost was in tears after Senna's accident.

What most people don't understand about Senna was that he was only as good as he was because of Prost. Prost was the best driver when Senna was coming up through the ranks and when they became teammates, Senna's sole focus was on destroying Prost. He didn't care about any other driver than Prost. You can see it in Senna's driving for both seasons he raced without Alain (1992 and 1994). He just wasn't at his best because he didn't have the one person on the track with him who drove him harder. Spa in 1992 should have been an easy win for him.

Whether he would have sparked a similar rivalry with Schumacher had he not been killed, I don't know. His driving in the first 3 races of 94 was uninspired as well. He'll always be remembered as the greatest of all time because he wasn't given the chance to fizzle out like some of the others who stayed past their prime (Mansell, Piquet, Schumacher, Hill).
