i cant find a build thread anywhere about this car, but all of the pics have good explanations. a lot of things he did are going way overboard, but its a badass build

Flowbench

Check his explanation of it and the use of mp63 down low on the bench.  :noel:

ECU Main Unit

Check the ECU he has built also.  :noel:

Quote
I reversed the Honda's crank rotation for compatibility with the Porsche transaxle. I revised the cam timing, removed the stock oil pump, added an external pump and rerouted the timing belt to place the slack side around the idler pulley. Used a 6 tooth shorter belt from a Suzuki Swift. The oil pump is now where the distributor used to be. I then replaced the distributor with a wasted-spark coil pack which is driven by my custom ECU. Stock water pump has been replaced with a Meziere electric pump.

if he would make some sort of cover and placed the plate on there, that be perfect. lol.

Some crazy stuff going on with that bug.

I like that he kept the pea shooter exhaust too.

He did all that work to achieve the power that a stock LS would reliably?

I like how he got medieval with the head work, some very good theory there, but to use LS cams = meh.  And retain the LS intake...?  Also, huge lack of resolution on his magnetic trigger affair, and the different polarity trigger affair is very SDS.

Yea, tons of overkill on some, under kill on others. It's cool to see all of the shit he did himself though

Yeah, the car itself is beautiful.  I'm not usually up on style bits, but the pop out headlights are cool.

why go through all the work of changing the motor rotation when all you have to do is flip the ring and you can turn the trans around...

kennedy enginneering sells an adapter to hook the trans to the d-series...

I wondered the same thing about reversing the rotation. Back when I was into the aircooled VW stuff, I was considering making it mid engine and just flipping the diff. They say it's pretty simple

If nothing else, I think it's interesting to see that B's can be run CW in reverse rotation. So I guess that old rumor of the CW H22 wasn't so unusual.

What I don't get is he went so far to make it CW, then used a custom EMS. He easily could have used a K-series with that EMS, but with much less work to the engine. Hell a J37 with aluminum cyl liners wouldn't be much heavier than all the turbo & vac/oil pump parts, but have all that extra torque.

I saw a B run CW a few years ago. If I remember right it only had the oil pump and cams modified. I don't see how the ecu knows a difference which way the distributor spins.

Pelegri Didier did it almost a decade ago.  Nothing new to see here.

both trans are basicly the same design, but ive never pulled one apart to make sure but its gotta be easier then changing the motor....

I respect this build for the diy labor, but this fool is obviously an engineer.  Over complicated to impractical levels for mediocre results...   :-\

Yup he did...  and as I stated, I can appreciate that.  That's a lot of fucking work for only 300whooptieshithorsepowers.

If this guy could take his excessively complex head out of his ass, this could have been a much faster & cost effective build.

You have no love for a built 4G in a 911? Not something I'd do personally, but I think its pretty cool.

The point wasn't the Honda engine in the beetle. It was all of the fab work and interesting solutions to the odd problems.

4g = fail
4g didn't require engineering to make it run backwards, just an adapter plate
The ingenuity in that porsche I would consider on par with putting  a v8 in a jeep or a j series in a honda.  Meh,

I get what you guys are saying, and I'll be honest, I didn't pay it a bit of attention. I completely ignored it because I ASSumed it would be the same retarded nonsense that 'VW' crossed with 'Honda' implied it would be. But.. It was pretty sweet, the guy is obviously at minimum a part time engineer of some sort that has access to CNC equipment and whatever else.

You can liken a 4G Porsche to a v8 jeep, but I could grasp your point without the over exaggeration.. I'm totally used to hearing about how garbage the 4G is being that I've owned 7 in the past 11 years. I've seen several prime examples myself, but thats true of every brand.. I don't discriminate, I like it all, except for pure acts of faggotry like kitted out neons, galants, accords on chopped springs and stock exhaust manifolds, with the "front mount intake".
