There is a price difference of about $100 between the two and the only difference I can find is that one is "Tap" and one is "Continuous" Voltage control.
I have no idea what that means. I hope to use this on thin gauge body panels as well.

While they are asking, I will also ask. What does everyone think of the Miller diversion 165 as my first Tig welder? I'm super new to welding, but my father is a pro, And I want to start off with a good entry level Tig.

hf for a mig.  spend $219 less regulator for 120amp mig.  you'll never really need to do anything heavier, unless you are welding bridges and shit

HF mig is a piece.  My friend bought that, brought it home and the fucking shit that holds the spool together just fell off. HF replaced it, but it's still a piece.   I wish I would have bought a non Chinese welder.
Yeah I have an HF mig and Foowwee has a Hobart even with gas and working my ass off my Hf welds like shit. With Tonys Hobart I can weld with my eyes closed and put down a nice bead.

I'm not knocking the hf to hard though it did build three turbo setups for me and has helped out on countless shitboxs i've tooned on/been to helpfull and got taken advantage off while making not much cash on.   :?:  :-[   :noel:

Those harbor freight pieces are garbage. The wire feed motor will burn out quick and the they are very inconsistant.

Joe you really dont want to cheap out on this. I have a friend with a 20+ year old Lincoln welder and it still welds good.

The inconsistant wire feed is my major grip with them nothing like laying a perfect bead and then have wire speed start changing and ruin the look of the weld.

I picked up a 15 year old welder that was made in Italy on Craigslist.
Works pretty good, nice beads when needed.
Only paid $125 with a large bottle included.

I have been rocking a Lincoln for 5 years now. It's 1 step up from the base welder. Never had a single issue with it. Parts are easy to get.  The only thing I am experiencing latley is that it seems to be eating Gas at an exponential rate. I think my regulator or fittings need some attention

Some things it's best not to cheap out on.  That being said, you can have confidence in getting a used brand name MIG.

craigslist, kijijii ..ect.

I have an Old Aurora MIG (from italy) got it for free. Works as good as the Lincoln... Hit and miss with no names though...

Find an old used MIG in the paper, or local want ads, etc. Even if it's 15 years old and wore out, spending 100 on it plus 100 to get it back to like-new condition will be much much better than a ching chong mickey mouse welder.

I ended up getting a cambell hausfeld  mig/flux core arc welder.  I didnt pay for it as it was a gift and it does everythign nicely.  Doesnt have a stupid short cycle like older CH's.  Was only like 300.

Few weeks ago I missed a niiiiiiice HUGE old school Lincoln welder on a trailer (only way to move it cause this fucker was big) that was selling for 400. Missed it by 1 day shit!  And it worked perfect.
