The LXI-FLYBY back in action. Now with a vengeance
« on: December 14, 2011, 06:25:10 PM »

Finally, Divorce is settled so I decided to celebrate with a visit to the DYNO.

The LXI-FLYBY 429whp 88 Honda Accord A20 Turbo Dyno

A20-T/SC6152S powa!

429whp and 361wtq at 26psi boost!

It made 325whp @16psi boost, 282whp at 14psi.  I think the SC6152S is a little on the small side for this motor and choking it up on the turbine side because we were spooled and fully boosted quick but the peak numbers seemed to be at 6500 then the power stayed flat after that, plus we made good numbers in lower boost levels but gains sort of leveled off after 400whp... I feel there is more power to be had even at the same boost level (running out of spark badly, its running an obd1 accord internal coil distributor with the plugs gapped at .020 :/ ) but with a bigger turbo/bigger injectors, ( 880s are almost 90% duty cycle) I cant imagine that 500whp would ever be an issue.

Thinking about upgrading to a precision 6262 or 6265 vs the SC6152S I have now.  Looking for more exhaust flow primarily...  opinions?

Amazing what you can do when a vagina isn't sucking the lifeblood out of you.

truth.  That is a very long and fubar'd up story.

"You put up with it" is not long, but it is fucked up.

It made 325whp @16psi boost, 282whp at 14psi.  I think the SC6152S is a little on the small side for this motor and choking it up on the turbine side because we were spooled and fully boosted quick but the peak numbers seemed to be at 6500 then the power stayed flat after that

If it did that at lower boost then it comes down to a flow issue; eyeball fuck the manifolding and consider a cam, or a cam gear to retard the existing one.  A turbo only makes power and then holds it flat when the compressor is maxed out.

running out of spark badly, its running an obd1 accord internal coil distributor with the plugs gapped at .020 :/

Plug gap is irrelevant.  If the car wants 0.015" gap then you give it 0.015" gap.  It means nothing.

You're dealing with 3000 year old rotted wiring.  Upgrade the power to the coil with fresh 10 gauge switched across a new 30A relay.  The Mustang boys do this with the classic 5.0 cars and get 600+ from a stock coil.

All that said, solid fucking work.  400+ from one of the finest sleeper chassis ever made = awesome.  I liked it so much I two starred your video (lacks nudity, sorry).

I didnast click the thread you linked to because I'm on my phone and it's alhassle, and necause zsteven Paz sent me some authenic Columbian FUUcl you liquor. IDK what your turbo manifold is like, but a BiG plenum Vickie-X or a ca. (Plus adjustents on the dyno) will shoot you right.

I thought the 6152S was good for a hair over 600?

Heres what the compressor map looks like right now at approx 500 crank hp at 26 psi boost:what the engine makes now.   Going to 600hp results in the chart going off the map... im guessing around 525whp but its showing 35psi boost. Either way adding more boost im starting to hit a wall but i can tell compressor efficiency is starting to roll off and this turbo has a small turbine I belieive its equivalent to a .63 stage 3 wheel which isnt very big.

Right now the motor seems to peak out at 6500 rpm but my thought is that with more turbine flow Itll free up some power at the same boost level and maybe even make more power at a later rpm, because the power seems to flatten out after 6500.

Around 630 max according to what I was able to dig up. From my understanding it used the GT35R wheel, but the other differences make the map for the GT35 not applicable.

This is a GT35R

This is a SC6152S like the one I have (on left). I cant see a difference in the housings, and they use the same wheel, so what differences are you referring to?  This is not an SC6152E which uses a different housing

Just going off of memory, the fact that precision says it is good for 630 and the map for the 35R does not.

Several DSM guys have touched 600 with it also.

That is true but but the 6176 is is rated to 680hp same as the 35R, the difference is in the turbine.  The main difference between the SC6152S/SC6176S and GT35R is it that the 35R is ball bearing and they all have different turbines.  the 6152 has the smallest by far and I believe thats whats limiting the motor... The SC6176 has a p trim turbine (76mm) which I think would free up some hp vs the 69mm turbine in my 6152S...

Edit: Also im using an (8" JRC intercooler its either 2.75 or 3" thick) but im not sure if it has become a restriction yet...
