I have had this idea in my head to build a mid engine car around an LS for a VERY long time. Sunday I stopped by a friends house planning to pick up a 700r4 for my truck when he offers me a prebuilt kit car chassis 100% free. If I cut the body mounts off, it's almost exactly what I had in mind to build myself. To me the whole idea was to build as many parts as I could myself and feel like I really accomplished something. Another part wants to just take the frame and save myself a bunch of time and money.

What would RHMT do?

That was my first thought, but after leaving my roomate asked me if I would feel less accomplished since I started with a prebuilt chassis. Then I thought I might not be as happy with the final product knowing I didn't build such a major component.

Yea pretty much. The bike is planned to be a long drawn out project. The truck plan has changed, rather than boost the 350, it will get a cummins 12 valve. More power and boost in one easy swap. GRM car is almost done.

This won't be a GRM car. There isn't much of a locost class there and I like to compete. It will just be a street toy.

I think the question is.... is the chassis worth a shit. If it looks safe and will work for your project then go get it before someone esle does. If it looks like a heaping pile of shit, you might wanna think twice. Still, if its free.....

If it's a heaping pile, then he can feel prideful about fabbing stuff to make it work. I look at it this way - it will let you spend that much more pride (time) on other things, like suspension, motor building, turbo kit, etc.

It's a solid chassis. It came from a company that sold kits. It was built on a jig. From what I could tell it should be perfect. And I picked up one side easily with one hand. It can't weight much more than 150lbs.

i dont have it yet. i wasnt real sure i wanted it when i left his house. ill pick it up in a week or so when i pick up the tranny and a few other things. one being a 1" rear swaybar for my GRM car
