No fuel, pump priming, wtf?!?
« on: April 23, 2012, 11:35:40 PM »

After my rebuild I go to start her up and it seemed initially I had fuel pressure, but turned it off in neptune on purpose. I turned it back on and tried to start but no go. I looked and seen a gas leak at the fuel rail so I figure it did have pressure at one point. So the next day I replace the crush washers and now I have no fuel pressure going to the fuel filter. It sounds like I hear the fuel pump priming and I do hear one click from the main relay when it turns off.

Heres what I did so far

Checked several fuses
Clamped the Fuel Pressure Regulator outlet to see if an increase would happen, nothing.
Pulled out the fuel pump to see if something came loose, it didn't.
Unplugged the fuel line going to the rail and threw it in a jar to see if gas would be there after several priming tries, nothing.
Neptune shows no error codes and I tried several times to enable injectors which is the only thing I touched

IF the car runs I should have some nice videos posted shortly after the dyno. I seem to have these oddball issues most of the time when repairing as some of you may have noticed  :(

Can you hear the pump kick on when you turn the key but no crank it?

If so check your fuel pump relay, you may have to reflow the solder.

Check that you are getting the fuel pump priming signal from ECU.

I can hear the fuel pump priming. It has always sounded pretty awful by the way.. China 255

Looking up the fuel pump relay now. I found the main relay in the glove box and hear a single click from that. My thoughts were I messed it up from not rewiring it?

Will also check the fuel pump priming signal from ECU

In tank pump?

Yes, China Walboro 255

I did a rebuild on it but did not touch any wire like that.

The relay is buy the under dash fuse box  :noel:

With the return line clamped did you hear any fuel spraying inside the tank?

Does it make a difference if your fuel tank is full or not?

If it does, then look at the sock for the pump on my CDM pumps I went used OEM honda socks b/c the CDM sock kept falling off.

Check pump wiring.. I seem to recall something about a certain fuel pump being labelled wrong.. positive and negative were switched .

Does your fuel rail have a dampener and banjo fitting?

If so did you fuck up the washer for the dampener to banjo fitting?

Go to the horse's mouth: unbolt the fuel tank porthole/door/plug/hanger thing, take off the outlet hose and connect that to a long hose, then have someone hold it going back into the fuel tank. Using a second person IS FUCKING REQUIRED, a 255lph pump will be like a fire hose.

Next get the pump to prime and see if it sprays. If it sprays, it's either a blockage past the fuel pump or the pump's internal bypass is shot. If you have the pump prime while partially clamping the hose and you see the fuel errupt from the pump rather than the hose, it's bypassing wrong and the pump is shot.

Otherwise there's a blockage somewhere between your pump outlet and the fuel rail.

Honestly dude, you seem to be having so many probs I'd REALLY recommend returning the car to 100% stock then doing 1 mod at a time. Get the EMS running 100%, then the injectors 100%, then the turbo (at wastegate pressure) working 100%, etc. This will make troubleshooting FAR easier.

So I increased the prime duration to see if the pump was responding to the ecu and sure enough it sprung some leaks. Made sure everything was tightened and correct and now it's holding pressure..

On the same note the car is still not starting but that's probably a timing or connector issue.

Have faith people  ;)

I think all cop cars need to have turbo. nbspnbsp Then they would understand the necessity of putting your foot down and how uncontrollable the urge is to fucking rail on that shit.

Just a quick heads up. The kill injectors button in Neptune does just that. The fuel pump still acts normal. Make sure you have live update on and for good measure hit the upload changes button with the kill injectors button being green.
