I want to build an engine harness from ecu to my engine for both my Twincharge Civic and 3-stage vtec CRX.

I was looking at http://www.hondapartswholesaledirect.com/parts-catalog/honda/civic/1992/3dr-si/kl5mt/engine/engine-sub-cord-clamp

@ a cost of $371.36.

Then I was looking at Rywire

But $599 starting is freaking nuts.

Start $549 and they have a shitty reputation on D-series.org  http://www.d-series.org/forums/engine-management/164301-rywire-vs-chasebays.html

Looked at http://www.d-series.org/forums/sale/149754-fs-new-civic-tucked-engine-harness.html his work works good and has a good rep. but I can buy an OEM harness for $100 less.

He has a good write-up and doing your own which looks easy.

$399 starting out, with lots of customization options.

But I need some help figuring which pins and connectors I need.

I have the Sumitomo catalogs on pdf and printed, but the p/n do not match bmotorsports.com p/n.

So does anyone have a spreadsheet on the p/n and or sources for pins and connectors, I want to do this as a new harness.

I can get different gauge stranded wire I want and I can have 3 or 4 harness to play with to match up lengths and such.

I already have diagrams on where all the connections go, I just need some good p/n's.  :noel:

Tried finding a link, all I could find was the p/n to a box of variety of different pins from the dealer for $300.

I can't add a lot to this thread except, DO NOT BUY A CHASEBAYS HARNESS and wireworx would be the place to get one if you decide to buy a premade harness.

I have first hand experience that the chasebays harness is complete garbage. Luckily it wasn't my car or my money though. Also, a good friend got a free harness from him as a sponsorship and promptly sold it after lots of issues before getting it and after getting it. He is now a wireworx dealer and has nothing but good things to say. This guy shaves and tucks 3+ bays a month.

found this site for Sumitomo p/n's, a lot of the sensor are of the HW sealed series p/n. (connector/pins/seals)

Still looking for the TPS/MAP sensor connectors

Gather these p/n's then find some cheap sources.  :noel:

I'm getting the Sumitomo p/n's figured out, and I know Tyco is who goto for the ECU connectors and pins.

When I get it figured out I'll post the spreadsheet in this thread or in OG section.  :noel:

That would be awesome. I have always wished someone would. I want to build a harness mor my ef. It was a 91 std starting out. Now it is obd1, mpfi, pwm boost control, etc. it's pretty much impossible to make all those mods clean without just ripping the entire harness apart.

You don't need milspec.  Rywire non-milspec tuck harness retails at $399, I could maybe get one drop shipped to you for no shipping via xeno but IDK as their price break on those is minimal... in truth, Rywire's margins are really small, they are trying to make $ off of quantity.



Anyway, I've said it before, but J-series harnesses have most of the 90s engine plugs on the engine, and a BIG LONG stretch that goes across the firewall before going into the engine bay.  Scam one for cheap/free, cut apart and sleeve with DR-25 or braided loom, terminate in OBDx ECU plugs.

Russ, if you want somebody to throw some money in on a few 040 and 080 pins for the OBD1 plug end of things, I could cough up some money towards that.  You hold the money and do the transaction and ship parcels out when you get them.  Just make sure everyone understands a component order like that usually gets paid for first, produces 2.5 months later.

I'm really more interested in OBD2 Ford ECU pins, though.

2 Used harnesses: $75 (one for your chassis, one from an unpopular chassis)
Solder, iron, heat shrink, heat gun, flux solvent: $75
Loom (either split or fancy fabricy shit that gets dirt into it): $25

I did the above when I made a DPFI harness into an obd0-obd1 EF harness, except the harnesses came with the car & swap. I just did it again for my Integra H/F-series harness. I got a D15 harness cheap ($110 for harness, p06, and p28) and an F23 harness on ebay for $10.99 shipped. I pulled the loom off, cut the short wires off the D15, cut longer pigtails off the F23 harness, then soldered them back together. I even got the wire that goes from the ecu to the shock tower from the F23 harness.

The process took maybe 8hrs, so say 16hrs MAX for someone w/o a clue. Even if you're a baller making $30+ per hour, that's cheaper than anything I've seen here. And you know it's done right.

Curious, besides F23, and J-series harness what else could be used that is not super popular yet?

Aside from any obd2 4-cyl Honda, that's about it (for connectors). For wire, probably most german cars. But most people won't part out a car that nobody wants parts for anyways, or they crank up the price. I found 2 v6 Honda harnesses on ebay fairly easily for a decent price yesterday when I looked.

I built my own harness re-using my factory harness. I was looking into buying new plugs and pins. I found most of the P/N for the male and female pins. It's annoying that the distributor pins are different than the sensor pins.

I used the nylon braid as my casing (similar to wireworx)

If I did it again, I'd make sure to use adhesive lined heatshrink on everything, and buy a heat shrink labeler.

Don't forget you'd need a crimper for all this, too. The pins are tiny. You might as well add a quick disconnect firewall plug, too. I wish I had done that... I want to make another harness...
