i have a 96 honda civic ex coupe stock motor w/ a p2p ecu
i tried to plug in my virgin p28 today and it mad my car run like shit
i turned the car on and it idled at 1k ...a few sec later it dropped to pretty much nothin hittin 100-200 rpms ...when i gassed it it would do the same idel at 1k then drop
does anyone know wtf is up?

when you switched ecus did you make sure your adaptor harness is completely hooked up?

is the ECU bolted back down to help complete ground?

Did you mess with anything else when switching ECUs?

everythin was hooked up , didnt bolt it back in (ill give it a shot in a lil and get back to u) and i only tried to adjust the idle control but that didnt make a diff

oh and if it helps i also tried my budys virgin p28 and it did the same thing as mine

I know if it was 92-95 civic you would jump the two port hanging under dash by the ecu.

Then disconnect the IAC, then adj. idle.

After all that you turn the car off.

Pull the backup fuse.

Then hook up the IAC back up and pull the jumper in the data port.

Then place backup fuse back in its slot.

Then start the car back up.

What made you change ecu's anyways what was wrong with using P2P?

Where you getting ready for boost or mager mode or what?

a buddy turned a screw in the throttle body
startin my first boost project got everything i need just got to get it on the car and workin ...want to get the p28 to work first so i can send it out to get chipped

Yeah you turn the idle screw but before you do that you have to disconnect the IAC.

Look at you manuel for 96-+ civics and see if you have to jump anything and follow the manuel for idle adj.

Chip  the ECU and there's a Y8 basemap floating around, see if that helps. Some shit about the timing on Y8's.

No, using a timing light to set your timing would.  Make sure your basemaps has idle timing of 12 degrees, because that's what your crank pulley is set to, otherwise use your noggin and figure out what direction the 4 degree offset is when using a stock P28.
