if he was looking at the czech cz52 pistol that shoots 7.62x25 then that would surely stop someone just as easy as a .45acp would. not to mention that ammo is ab out the cheapest surp ammo available.

I forget the model #, but it was 9x18.  I'm not looking to mow people down, just paper targets.

I've heard lots of good things about the 9x18 (9mm MAK) pistols except for the Polish P64, so stay away from that one. If you find an East German one for a good price, snatch it up quick. The 9x18 is a step up from the .380 ACP (9x17mm) but depending on where you are it could be even harder to find. IIRC there are replacement barrels chambered for .380 ACP, if you can find one for sale.

http://www.makarov.com/ <-- Good info there. They also make a decent budget carry pistol if the need ever arises.

However, if you're certain about only ever shooting it at a range, go for a .22 and save yourself the money on ammo.

As far as I understand, 9x18 is an odd version of the 9mm, won't work interchangably,  and in all my bullet shopping, I've never seen them for sale. Might want to look into that.

I think Stealthmode has a few children in some of his socks. I picked up one of his socks thinking it was mine and it was crunchy. Now I spend all day wondering what the hell might be laying eggs under my fingernails.

Yea the guy said they arent interchangeable (but a 9x18 will shoot where a 9x19 should be), but he said its not a problem to get the ammo.  He said it might be easier/cheaper at times since there is less demand than 9x19, not sure how much sense that makes.

I'm going to hold the Bersa again today.  It was roughly the same price as the used Czech Mak (300 ish).

mak's are nice, they have a decent trigger.  7rd capacity sucks though, or is it 8?

Absolutely not.  The 9x18 bullet diameter is larger than the diameter of a 9x19.

That wouldn't be a bad option because ammo is cheap.  In fact, it might be your best option if you actually want something worth carrying.

Otherwise, the Mosquito is internally the same gun as the P22.  The bad reviews are due to retards as I previously explained.  If you like how it felt, that's your best bet.  I've had no problems with mine, my friend has had no problems with his and if you actually read the reviews on the SIG forums the ammo issues that cause the complaints are explained.

Stay away from anything in .380.  As someone else said it is THE hardest to find ammo right now.  The gun isn't worth shit if you can't shoot it.

Hrm...i mustve heard him wrong, i couldve sworn he said it was some design plan so that certain things were interchangeable but that it didnt work out to the advantage of the US.

Anyway, the main guy wasnt there today so they took down my name and will call me with a price on the .22 Bersa.  From what I've read it seems to be pretty well-liked, just hard to find.

The makarov they had is the cz82, with a 12(?) round mag, or maybe it was 11+1, i forget.  They also had the cz52 for dirt cheap but it looks pretty beastly/uncomfortable.

From what I've read the 82 is a nice gun, everyone seems to like them.  52 isn't something I'd want to take to an indoor range.

Might be something to consider for your purchase. These are supposed to be pretty badass.

update: I just bought the Sig Mosquito in two-tone last night.  Came close to spending more on something bigger and decided against it, now I just need to turn in all my paperwork and wait :P

One thing that helped me make up my mind was that they had one in the vault that no one had really handled, some of the other bigger guns they only had the one in the case that everyone has fucked with.
