How to handle towing damage.....
« on: May 06, 2009, 12:12:01 AM »

The short story is my car was towed from my condominium for parking where you are not allowed to.
I am picking it up from the tow yard in the morning.
Im going to be bringing a camera w/ me.
So the question is, what is the best way to handle any damage that it may have.  Have any of you guys had to deal w/ this before?
It's probably ok, but if there is problem I want to handle it correctly instead of just getting pissed off and having to pay for it.

they are unresponsible for damage caused by illegally parked vehicles.

if your car had cinder blocks underneith it, and it is considered illegal to not have wheels on the street, then it will be towed.

usually those people are pretty good at not fucking peoples shit up.

Im sorry to tell you, but if there is new damage, its your word agaist theirs whether it was there before or not. The tow guys sure as fuck dont give a shit about whether they fuck up your car in the process of towing it...and the cops likely wont either unless it is major and obvious damage from the tow.

That being said, good luck. I have been there before. There was no damage to my car, but when the dummy hooked it up there were awfull noises...I would have kicked the shit out of him had there not been the bitchiest Bitch state trooper in Texas standing there telling him to do it. >:(

Buddy of mine had an eg hatch towed, someone at his apartment complex said they didnt recognize the car and it had sat there for a few days, this is while he was on vacation, he went to pay to have his car released and his 2 month old paint job was ruined. Front bumper was cracked from the top to the center of the grille where the dipshit tried to wrap the chain or strap around the front of his car.

You are correct, I am pissed for parking it were it would get towed.
I'm assuming you are a tow truck driver based on your name.

What is the best way to handle any damage if there is any?

Point that shit out if there really is damage....   Ask how it was towed....  If wheel lifted theres more of a chance of the oil pan being damaged....  If flat beded then check your tow points...   I really don't think that there is any damage but there are dumb people out there...  Towing is easy....

You don't want to be that guy that walks in the door yelling and shit cause you get treated how you act....

If they damaged it they are gonna already know what they did and all that shit....  They are just waiting for you....

I'm not really worried about the security of it. Its a locked yard, and this isn't Tacoma or Spanaway.  I'd really rather get it during the day.   The only thing that worries me is 1/2 of my nerd pack is in there.  You know the black tool box w/ my tuning ECU, Timing gun, Wideband, etc...
Im sure it will be fine.

lame, i hate when shit gets towed. because you never know who might ravage threw your shit. people believe its cool to snoop around. i got arrested once and my car got towed. i had my window and sun roof down. and they just placed my insurance and registratoin with a bunch of other papers just on my front seat. everything was blown around in my car and was surprised when they were still there. then they charged me extra because i picked up my car after hours even though they were still there anyways. and for towdog getting on your case about being upset. well that kinda comes with the job. your going to get treated like shit if you cant handle it quit. just like cops getting shit. just like mcdonald workers getting shit. no matter where you work you will get some type of shit usually. just think about the people that praise you for towing them when they get stuck or break down.

what company towed it? there's actually quite a bit you can do if you have pics of the car before hand. i ran a tow company in wa for a few years, i still know a few people in the industry.

a lot of complexes have a blanket contract with tow companies to tow without consent. it's fucked up.

Out of the hundreds of cars I've towed, I only fucked up one.  It was a newer stratus, negative 25 out and instead of the air dam bending, it shattered the bumper cover.

If you go in being a dick head and there is actually damage to your car, you're probably going to get fucked.  Keep that in mind.  Oh and get your shit out of impound stat.  Living in a town with minimum crime, our lot gets broken into all the time.  I told some dude that came down to get shit out of his car to keep it unlocked, it'll probably save him a window.

But faggot kain is wrong, if you're parked illegally, that doesn't give anyone the right to fuck up your car and not be responsible for it.  They're just suppose to move it.

you have a right to stand in front of a judge, and the owner of the tow company and prove your car was illegally towed. if you can do that, the yard will have to fix your car.  /thread.
