it is more than enough for me.  currently running 8psi spring.  it hits bull boost at 5k and creeps to 13.5psi at 9k.  there is a really fucking weird dip in the plot though.  just before 4k it drops out lean and sputters and bangs, then once it is past it, its fine.  the tuner who is an aem dealer has never seen anything like it.  i'm thinking it is the ecu.  what do you guys think?

I almost gaurentee its not the ECU. I would say its an issue with a bad sensor or wiring.

If it was the ecu, it wouldn't be a spot in the range, it would be the whole cha-bang. Sensors can and will provide bad data at certain points (especially transducers like your map sensor), wiring can pick up and weird shit and cause issues with components through inductance, poor insulation, poor contact etc.

I'd say there's about a 5% chance its the ecu and I mess with shit like this all day long tracking down problems in electrical systems a lot more advanced than an automobile.

Its probably something fucking stupid like a lose pin imho.

It's the ECU, or a ground.  Sounds like something is forming a tank circuit.

tony seemed to think it was a ground... hence all the added straps in the video.  the harness is grounded properly, as is the battery and everything else.  i had another friend suggest it might be an unshielded crank sensor wire.  this flat spot in the tune was there from the beginning when we first started the engine up.  i think it is the ecu personally, but i'm not a tuner so my opinion is about as useful as shampoo is to jd.

S2000 like to blow the current limiting resistors of the V1 boxes.  I've fixed a few that happened to, no idea how they behaved like that as I found running test vehicles *after* they had been repaired.  V2, while being a very close clone of V2 has some interestin issues of its own - I know Blundell has encountered a lower than requested revlimit on an 05 NSX with V2, that the vwhicle did not exhibit with anything else plugged in it's place.

Does it feel like a big drop out?  Where is VTEC crossover - should be a lot after 4K, but I gotta ask.

Just add some timing and boost where the dip is, it will level right out!

How high are you planning on revving this thing?

Slap some ground straps around your engine bay, see if there is someone local with the same AEM box that you can test with.

Also, pull your cam and crank sensors out and wipe them off.  You might have trash on one causing a hiccough.

The dip seems to occur right before torque ramps up, so I'd guess right at the onset of boost? Is it ONLY at 4k, or have you ever noticed it when starting the dyno at a higher rpm?

always same range. it is annoying as fuck on the highway. cruising rpm is right there.  it sputters & pops 3800-4000rpm.

So, load makes no difference, just rpm?

Also, I forget if you made your harness/had it made, but all your ign signal wires are shielded properly?

load makes no difference.  it dips if you go through that 3800-4000 rpm window at part or full throttle.

the engine harness if factory.  the harness inside the car for the dash and all the lights is tucked in the fenders.
