white wires interchangeables? O2 sensor
« on: July 23, 2013, 06:16:24 AM »

Hi, my father's car got CEL from some months ago, finally i replaced the rear o2 sensor because i checked with laptop and didnt work, i had to solder wires because the sensor i received had different plug, soldered everything , installed back, checked with laptop again and it worked but after 10 min cel came back again! i havent had to check it again but i assume it's for o2 sensor, my question is about the 2 white wires i had to solder, checked and both had continuity , my doubt is about if both wires are interchangeable or not.. i know these wires are heater wires but maybe the cel is for that problem...any doubt? o2 sensor has 4 wires..car is Nissan Almera 2001 GA15DE

You not giving very much info here, allot of guessing but if the two white wires are the heater then they can be hooked up either way. I'm not saying you have the correct o2 sensor though. They can very allot.

If they are all Bosch NB HOS then yes the White wire are the source voltage to O2 heater and does not matter which white which.
Grey wire is Sensor output and Black wire is ground is ground.

If you have your solder wires exposed then, you can check if you are getting a good output V from Grey wire.

IF not check and make sure your ground is good

If the ground is good then, you either have a bad new O2 or wiring issue somewhere in the engine harness.

Please recheck the codes, and tell us what code it is.  "Its an O2 code" means nothing, there are about 40 O2 sensor codes and they each mean something different.

Best case you dentified a bad O2 sensor, then installed another O2 of the wrong heat eange.  Worst case you haven't figured out anything and have wasted a lot of time.
