So last night I installed new LSD dragger clutch and obx LSD in my hatch. Started up fine drove fine for about 5 miles had light gear whine. Go to stop and did small burnout and it doesn't want to go into 2nd.  Do little smoker. Then about mile later thing is starting to really whine and pops out of gear, but is stuck between gears and acts like busted shift fork. Finally I get it into 3rd and limp it home but couldn't give it much throttle as it would pop out and actually move shifter 2 inches in back and fourth

When I opened it up to install LSD it had stated to and had marks on it from ring gear so I tapped it back down and pinned it. Or do you think damage was already done? Shifted beautifully before. I was in pinch for time and money also and never checked shim clearance on lsd just used what was in there could that mess it up that bad and fast? Runout looked good

Nailed it..pretty common problem, probably disturbed it somehow when you pulled it apart.

need to stake that bearing in the case
