Wtf are you talking about? True rat rods are the rhmt version of hot rods. They're hot rods built for cheap and usually by the owner with some buddies and plenty of beer. Rat rod owners are proud to have one. Its about function over form, in its truest sense.

you have it all wrong. the term rat rod is misguided by people who don't know what there talking about so much.

a TRUE rat rod is something somebody slapped together over the weekend carelessly and had no idea what they where doing or what they where aiming for it to look like. for instance. this piece of shit right here. I am pretty sure this guy was on heavy drugs when he decieded to fab this up

This is a Hot Rod ( though its not traditional because of the chebby 350 in there)

And this is some rich dumb asses project who painted it up like a hot wheels car and the only times he drives it are on the trailer and off the trailer.

Given the chop and channel along with the A/G on the side and how old the paint and rust looks, I'll go out on a limb and say that's an early 392 "Firepower" Hemi Altered Gas car.

If cars like that never happened RHMT would be pointless. This is the modern extension of hod rods, Ford turbos and vitara pistons in a honda runnig DSM injectors and some random IC found on the side of the road.

I think all cop cars need to have turbo. nbspnbsp Then they would understand the necessity of putting your foot down and how uncontrollable the urge is to fucking rail on that shit.

What the fuck does he call it?  People round here with cars like that are proud of the rat-rod designation.

I guess it shows that your resourceful, know what Nostalgia is, and still make it fly it on the cheap.
Some Rat-Rods aren't all that cheap though, I know a guy that had spent 150 hours just working the frame on his rat.  Then had the steering arm cut from billet to compliment it, Looks cool as fuck cuz you really have to take time to look it over to see his work.

+1 if you have more than just a couple of grand in the car, its not a rat rod.
