coilovers: megan/d2/bc....wtf?
« on: September 05, 2013, 09:51:14 PM »

so im looking for coilovers for the GVR4 and it seems these are the only three sold for my chassis. oh and probably Tein from what i hear, but im not spending that. other

Megan = 1150
D2 = 900   <~and i dont want these cuz they are fuckin jdm purple. (could paint them i guess)
BC = 1000

now i have read lots of shit on most of these. hard to sort the 1st hand from the "these are china shit....but i have never seen them in person" posts sometimes.  every shock maker has had a leaker at some point. but do Megan's piss oil on the regular? or this some bullshit? etc etc

i dont give a shit about these "seized collar" posts. i dont live in salt country, nor will i probably ever adjust the fuckers after getting it dialed in.

im worried about them just having catastrophic failure/killing me, blowing out before 40k, and a bouncy/noisy ride. but i do like a firm ride.

so anyone got some legit insight to add about these junk ass coilovers?  ::)

Koni yellows and ground control
or just go with springs if you aren't going to be adjusting them ever

sorry forgot to mention. neither of those are an option. im running modified EVO9 struts and cut springs. to get the height that i want the front springs are cut too much and sit funny, havent done the rears yet but they will do the same. if i get evo8-9 lowering springs it might sit better. but still not much camber adjustment.

oh yeah. sleeves.. evo struts shafts are big, and the tubes are bigger than a coilover sleeve. so thats a no go for the fronts.

gvr4 koni's are discontinued. and even so when lowered you bottom out tough, like most cars. hence the evo suspension.

and i threw away all my old shit, except the front bearing hats, cuz it was all 20+yo and worked.

The k sport stuff I told you about is actually pretty decent, I'm pretty sure it's still China stuff even tho they claim iit's USA made.

I had d2's on my 240 for a brief time. 8k front 6k rear.  Car rode like a caddillac with no bounce.  Several D2 users will tell you that.  Tein is fucking trash.   Megan has stepped it up over the years.   I dont know anyone personally running BC's.

Do some looking into fortune auto.  I'd give them $1200 over megan any day.

canuck motorsports is pretty cool stuff for springs

They also happen to be the only company to make lowering springs just for my car. so of course I'll sling their name  :Jew:
