Rd. 3: I quit JD.
« on: July 20, 2014, 01:13:12 AM »

F2B Turbo is gone.

Still have the car. Now has a B20B in it. Nothing special. I robbed some parts for this car. I.e. Steering wheel setup, Walbro, Innovate Wideband and gauges.

Back Story:

Bought a 1997 240sx. $1800. Jdogg seen it and told me about a RB25 swap he possessed for $3k. We got talking and decided to offer a complete '95 240x for $5k. Car had been sitting a "year".  Had a "wiring" problem that was thought to be the starter.

So rather then molest a virgin '97 Kouki, I sold it. Owned it for 4-5 days. Made a nice profit and bought the '95 for $5k.

Rundown:

Untitled by 94EGCoopey, on Flickr

Literally had no starter when it was delivered. So I sourced out a distributor and drove 4 hrs roundtrip to get it. Put the starter in. Uncut the hacked alarm and resoldered everything back to factory.

Car now spun over with the key.

Turned out to need a fuel pump as the "year" it had been sitting, it looked like this:

Yanked the brand new SVT Focus Walbro out of the former F2B Sedan (RIP) and put it in the 240.

Then fixed up alittle wiring shit that I didnt like. After all, that is my knack.

Car use to have a rear bumper body kit. Removed that and put the factory one back on:

When it was delivered to me, it had S2k rear wheels as these had no tires.

Got some fresh rubber on 17x9.5's.

Ran across a '93 J30 in the junkyard. So I snagged the AC stuff off as its suppose to work with RB stuff.

Picking up the Compressor and Bracket tomorrow. Thats the only missing pieces.

Sold the NRG Short Hub from the Civic. Bought a BNIB Momo for the S14.

Installed the NRG QR and Momo Wheel.

As you can see, paint was ugh. After all it sat for a "year",

Spent $60 on a claybar, compounds, polishes, waxes, and materials.

Spent 4-5hrs on the body. This is the results:

Nasty ass water spots from sitting a "year"

Thats pretty much caught up to how she sits in my driveway.

Suppose to be putting her on the dyno this week at Jdoggs. I was told it made 472hp, but it doesnt feel like 472hp to me. We shall see this week.

And one more of the neglected child. :(

Been debating on turboing the B20 that sits in her now.

There is. But being that it sat for a "year" and moved a few times with the shop, it is completely fucked. Haggard isnt the correct adjective for the bumper. Its just fucked. Deep scaring, scratches, and tears. I just leave it off for now as the rest of the car looks fairly mint.

Also, car only has 111k miles on it and was purchased new in FL. NO RUST! :)

Oh, and I want to leave the GT32 and go Holset.

So I have been wrapped up, no pun, in wiring lately.

Decide to redo my fusebox situation in the engine bay so I could mount my Peterson Catch Can, Oil relocation setup, and have more room.

Dash out:

Everything unloomed:

Fusebox's new location:

Everything back to get and wire harness in place:

Said fuck doing it all half ass. Whipped out my drill and hole saw and made it work:

Harness loomed up:

Harness sent through new holes:

And as of last night, everything loomed, heatshrunk, and all that jazz:

Pile of shit removed:

One step closer to a cleaner bay with more room:

Looks good. I hate wire tucking because it's a lot of time to do it right but it looks so much better when it's all done.

Thanks guys. I have become very particular about doing things the right way with age lol.

So tonight I managed to get some work done. I wanted to install my relocation kit and clean up the underside of the intake manifold and clean spots that I couldnt reach.

I took of the manifold to find the head was super clean. Also had a nice port job as well.

Got some new hoses to eliminate the bullshit from the OE. Stuff the original shop that did the swap should have done. Cost me $40 for the 2 hoses but will be SOOOO much cleaner.

Got the Earls adaptor and 1/2npt to 10an's threaded in. Need to decide where to put the relocation mount at. Seems even with the fusebox out of the way I still have little options.

Not major progress, but a decent bit.

I did manage to get the engine harness fully loomed and heatshrunk. No photos yet of it.

Thinking about eliminating the Z32 filter and going with a Earls line adaptor to 6an Earls filter then to the rail.

Thoughts?

Made alittle more progress last night.

Went ahead and made my AN lines for the relocation. Also got rid of the Z32 fuel filter to gain alittle more room.

Waiting on my inline fuel filter today and then fasten the relocation mount and put the intake manifold back on.

looks way better but I would have made the oil lines longer so you could have hidden the filter up in the corner or something.

I completely disagree. The engines are stout. The Nissan 90's imsa cars made like 1500hp on there qualifying engines and 1000hp on the race day engines, using stock block, cranks, and heads (sohc vg30 heads).

New IN900's.

Wrinkle Blacked the Top Feed Rail.

Plug and Play LS2 Coil Harness for a RB25 S2.

Lowered the back after rolling the fenders. Fronts had weird collars and I didnt have the right Allen key. Have to lower and roll the fronts later.

New IN900's.

The funny thing is I didn't realize who you were on facebook and didn't make the connection when JD ordered them. Let me know how they work out. I know JD has used them in an RB26 at some point, so there shouldn't be any issues.

Surprise!  It's me.

So far so good. Started it up briefly today to check sealing. They are alittle loose inside the "denso donuts" and sorta swivel with little resistance,  but not leaking on idle and free revving.

Were they similar to DSM or Mazda lower seals? Did you have to shim the rail or remove the lower plastic retainer ring?

I originally had some Delphi / MSD 50lbers.  I removed 1 washer from the rail bracket to allow the rail to bolt down a little tighter. The top feed design on this manifold is really shit.

The most recent photo on my Facebook shows the brackets that bolt to the intake manifold and then to the rail. Bracket are shimmer out with 2 spacers. They are L shaped and then bolt to the rail. Apply pressure when tightening to get them snug

Scooped it for $12.50.

Came off a 760 Brick.
