Slicks for the accord?
« on: August 26, 2014, 08:33:23 PM »

I might be running my accord at the track here in about a month, and I will definitely be running it next spring so I need to get a set of tires.  I was thinking about getting some 15" Basset wheels and maybe 26x10 slicks.  I don't give a fuck how the wheels look, I just want something cheap that won't kill me.  It would also be nice if they fit without having to hack shit up too much.

Any suggestions?

Ask Spiker, I'm sure he has a few thought on this.  :noel:

Layed down 375/335 on JD's dyno.  I know 26 is overkill for what I have, but I will be building a new setup very soon.  This engine has about 100k hard miles on it, and I just got a much better paying job.

If your setup supplies enough torque for the 26" slick, you still will need to do something for the trans., ask spiker maybe he can get you a built trans or something.  :noel:

26" drag radial is totally different than a 26" slick.

Are there any cheap fwd trannys that can hold some serious power?  Or even better, are there any affordable fwd auto trans that are stout?

You are limited to Honda trans since these engine run CCW not CW.  :noel:

Hi. Mine roll out at 26.1. The MHs call a 25.4, but I always ask John for a tall set/.

I ru n a 26" SLICK... They fit the wells fine, I have NEVER broke an axle o n the MHs ever. STreet or Track... The 26" MT slicks I have Ive killed axles out of the hole. The car is heavy and hooks lie yur mammma  :)

Yes saenz, no albins available.. There is a Mfactory set and PAR I think still makes one.

Accord axles are the same as Lude, byut the H series lude CVS are huge internally compared., Accord axles are weak comparably... Youll have to swap to the lude mid shhaft... And run ONLY OEM and rebuilt or "OEM replacement for vatozone or whatever WILL SHIT THEMSELVES. Youre better off with a 50 dollar junkyard axle thats REAL OEM than a 100 dollar brand new shitty reman.

Thanks man.  I just read that gringo pulled off a 2.0 60 ft with the exact same neogen I already have.  I might wait to get slicks until I get/make a traction bar and get reman. axles, that I have now, replaced.

Ran the 1/4 at Darlington yesterday. F22, hy-35, 18 psi. Accord transmission. Nitto neo-gen 205-50-r15 on a stock accord rim with 40 psi.

First Pass:
R .319
60' 2.159
1/8 et 8.697
1/8 mph 89.14
1/4 et 13.111
1/4 mph 112.17

Second pass: They switched from full tree to pro tree and caught me a little off guard on the launch.
R .878
60' 2.404
1/8 et 9.010
1/8 mph 87.88
1/4 et 13.392
1/4 mph 113.20

Threw the Alt belt during the second pass and it had been breaking up in 3rd and 4th, so I shut it down for the night. This car has a 12 second pass in it as it sits, I just need some more track time.  Not to bad for a all season street tire.

Get some real slicks!

Best way to get some cheap used slicks. Call up a few local shops and ask if you can buy a set of their used slicks.

I had one...  It was great, until I wiped some teeth off 2nd!  This f22 tranny is a lot taller.  I ran 8.4 in the 1/8th on less boost before it was tuned on the dyno, could have been the better transmission, I might just need more seat time.

I'm going to gut this car and shave every pound I can, I'm going to leave the front windshield, muffler, and lights so its street legal.  I wonder how light I can get it?
