Help w/ Crome 1.5 or 1.5.3 and Hardware issues.
« on: May 14, 2009, 11:23:23 PM »

I'm looking over the tutorial I've found pgmfi.org and xenocron.com  :?:

I see things involving features I do not have.
For instance I see a fuel multiplier w/ main and advance tabs in the tutorials but not in my copy crome.
I also get a I/O error 103 when I start crome, why?

I'm trying to develop a basemap for my setup.

My setup is:
 D16z6 block
 vitaras (0.5mm o/s)
 TT rods
 Y8 head port and matched to Z6 intake mani.
 Delphi 75# inj.
 70mm tb and spacer
 SC14 supercharger (84cid)
 Edelbrock intercooler
 2.5 and 3.0 piping
 using a throttle switch (like the NOS one) to activate the clutch on the SC14

I assume I start out with P28 basemap.
Go to the fuel multiplier and enter the inj. size and the new engine size.
Then I go to setting hit general tab and adj. the atmo. pressure to 3000mbar.
Then I adj. stoichiometric value to 12.5 just to run a little richer.
I go to Options and adj. rev. limit to 8012rpms, vtec to 4200rpms, speed limiter to 130mph, and only have disengage the knock sensor with check in the box.

I do not think I have everything what am I missing or did wrong.

I have not found a lot of info on supercharge d16s.

I figure just treat this setup like a d16 w/ large inj. and a large turbo comressor with a small turbine that spools really fast.

i can make one for you

should use a p30 base, more/better support

what cc are those injectors? i could make a quck base that will get the car to idle and start ect ect

its a y8 head? whats the CR of the engine right now?

If you want the advanced features for fuel, you have to install fuel tools.
Open a map that you are going to work on, and then go to plug-ins and add fuel tools.
Click on advanced boost tools to enable boost.

Convert your map to P30 base first, though.

All the plug ins needed should already be in the new versions of Crome if you downloaded it from the website.

Open p30 base
remove checksum
add rtp
add fuel tools
add adv. boost tools
scale injectors under fuel multiplier
go to advanced tables and choose injectors under batt offsets(stock)
hit the "Create boost table values" and do .8/lbs retard and add 150% to be safe
go into options and edit as you need

That's a basemap itself.

Thanks guys I'll try this and maybe post my map for you guy to a give me pointers.

OK I:
 removed the Check sums
toggle the RTP tool bar
went to advance boost tools and chose xenocron's 3bar map and toggle 14 columns
 Quick Datalogger +RTP in the Enhancement
went to adj. boost tables typed in .8deg/psi and turbo eff. at 150%
fuel multiplier typed in 788cc/min inj. and 1612cc engine size should I do anything with the advance tab?
Should I do anything with the advance tables there a long list of features in there.
adj. vtec to 4208rpms
adj. full throttle switch and shift light to 7022 (because of the 1.4:1 pulley ratio for my s/c I do not want to spin it past 10k)
adj. the rev limiter to 8296 rpms
should I be doing something in the controls in the plugins tab?

Oh I'm using 1.5.3 (latest) and when I am at work using a desktop with windows 2000 professional I have no error and I can type in the note.
When I'm using my lappy with Vista basic I get I/O error 103 and can not type in the notes , how do I fix this?

Alright I have my P28 chipped the basemap burned and verified.

I get  a solid Cel light when I turn the ignition on listen to the fuel pump come on for a second.

Then I crank the engine and nothing happens.

Any ideas?

You didn't burn the chip properly, or the ecu itself is bad.

Always spend another second to verify data on rom vs. bin loaded on computer. If it doesn't match then bad chip or is inserted wrong.

I/O error, you may want to uninstall and reinstall.

What burner are you using?

For the solid cel?  Have you tried just burning a stock b16 or d16z6 map to the chip and trying that?  If you dont get a solid cel, you know the chipping job is good.  If you get a solid cell with a stock bin, chipping job is bad.

Nothing like a smeghead.  No need to explain the sig here, I spotted Rimmer a mile away! :).  Red Dwarf FTW

I went through the moates, xenocrons and PGMFI's info on chippin P28.

I burn the chip and crome said it was verified. Is there something different I needed to do?

I'm using a Burn2 I retry today with a P28 basemap first.

As for Red Dwarf I just got done watch the 3 newest episodes on youtube Back to Earth.  ;D

Some funny shit.

I also noticed that excess solder between J1 and R54 would that cause an issue?

Use the software for the burner, not crome. And as long as one solder point doesn't have contact with the other it's fine.

Are you doing all of the above steps I listed? Doing all that should guarantee a no cel start up if burnt/uploaded to ostrich properly.

Yeah I did all the stuff you post earlier.

How do I use the software?   I have the flash and burn program how to set it up for burning the chip?

Ok I went to moates and found the tutorial: http://www.moates.net/documentation.php?documentation_id=77 did everything it said.

DL Flash & Burn 1.8 (latest)
Unzipped it then opened it
Load my basemap to buffer
Erase chip
Blank chip
Program chip
Verify Chip with buffer
everthing looks good.

I put the chip back in the ecu and hooked up the ecu to my car and still get a solid CEL.

When I went through the moates tutorial I noticed it said that 32k files must be exactly 32,768 but my basemap is 32,880.

Would that cause any problems?
Do I need to edit buffer?
If so where do I need to edit?

Did you add something to the "notes" field?  ve heard of that causing issues.

Did you try a stock p28 or p30 bin like I said?  With no plugins?

Yeah did the P28 an P30 w/o plugin and no go. Yeah I found that notes being added did get 32,768 bytes to go to 32,788 bytes.

I did the chipping my first attempt. ;D

Then I looked at the board and found there was too much solder for the rom socket.

Solder was bridging two pins of the socket.

What bothers  me is I cut j1 and this did not let defalt setup get used.

I now have the solid CEL issue taken care of.

In the process of cranking the engine over a few times I manage to dump fuel in oil washing out cylinders.

I'm using 788cc inj. and I did not have the offset for cranking adj. ::)

I'm hoping I can just change oil disable inj. and crank the engine until I can get good oil flow into the engine.

Any advice guys?

Make sure you have an offset set correct in Flash&Burn, also what MAP sensor are you using?

Here's the offset table from moates.Row 6 is what you want to use.

File Size   Chip   Buffer Start -> End   Chip Start -> End
1. 4k   (4096)   AT29C256   000000 -> 000FFF   007000 -> 007FFF
2. 16k (16384)   AT29C256   000000 -> 003FFF   004000 -> 007FFF
3. 32k (32768)   AT29C256   000000 -> 007FFF   000000 -> 007FFF
4. 4k   (4096)   27SF512   000000 -> 000FFF   00F000 -> 00FFFF
5. 16k (16384)   27SF512   000000 -> 003FFF   00C000 -> 00FFFF
6. 32k (32768)   27SF512   000000 -> 007FFF   008000 -> 00FFFF
7. 56k (57344)   27SF512   000000 -> 00DFFF   002000 -> 00FFFF
8. 64k (65536)   27SF512   000000 -> 00FFFF   000000 -> 00FFFF

I think you should be fine after changing the oil.

Are you disabling the injectors to get the rest of the gas out?

The oil light will go off while cranking when it sees oil.  You can use that as a judge since oil is present at the head shortly after that.  If its a new build, I leave the valve cover off, unplug the ecu and crank until I see oil at the cams.
