Bought a new car...non previously owned
« on: May 28, 2009, 08:58:37 PM »

Well I finally broke down and bought a brand new car.  I finally came to the realization that a nice daily driver is better than a nice weekend car.  Every day I've been driving a 93' Oldsmobile with 266,000 miles on it back and forth to work while I only drove the Mustang 2,000 miles last year.  Granted the Mustang is a ton of fun and the majority of those miles were doughnut runs, but its just too much of a cop magnet.  I'm sick of not being able to take it to the bar, drive in the snow or even drive it to work without getting hassled for things like window tint.   ::)  So I got a 2009 Honda Accord EX-L.  3.5L V6 with the 6-speed manual.     Pics:

Money shot:

Real money shot.   :?:

I Definitely love owning a Honda again.  I love how it shifts and handles.  I'm keeping it stock.  The only thing I'm going to do to it is make a short shifter cause I know how nice Honda's are with short shifters.  And possibly some rims that keep spinning when I stop.   O0  Anyone want to buy a Mustang?

With the exception of the grill, I really like how the new accords look.

Not sure if I'll ever be baller enough for a brand new car :P

Not sure I've seen an accord like that yet, but it's definately got good body lines.

The only thing the same between the 4-door Accords and the coupe is the door handles, the coupe is a totally different car.  I didn't want a 4-door (that elmininates the entire faggot Acura line  ::) ) and knew I wanted a Honda.  I was thinking of buying a Civic for the longest time but I wanted leather and the only Civic I'd get is the SI.  And for the price of the SI, I figued I'd spend the extra and get something that's more comfortable.  The Accord is definitely the most bang for the buck: heated leather seats, dual climate control, sunroof, 18's, foglights, satellite radio (not my sirius though  >:( ) and 271hp 254lbft.

I really like V6 Accord Coupes.  I do not like Honda's pricing and financing options on them.  Kind of why you don't see a bunch of them on the road.

Sticker price is for faggots, how much did you really end up spending?  In this economy, I'm hoping around $24.5.  I've been kicking myself recently for not picking up an 08 MazdaSpeed3 about a month ago for $19k.  I wanted an 08 for the savings, but the idea the car had been on the lot for 2 years made me decide against it.  I was saving like 2.5k though.  Plus the car has an absolutely shitty clutch engagement point.

Yeah the economy is bad but like you said, you don't see a bunch around so they are hard to find.  If I was buying a 4 door 4-cylinder I'd be able to get a better deal.  I called about 15 dealerships and the majority of them said they couldn't even get the car. I called one dealership that said they had one in stock.  I called them back a half hour later and they said it was just sold.   :-\  But I was able to get it at the price I wanted.  I got it out the door, including everything for a couple grand under the sticker.

I love how salesman never talk about the price of the car, only "what do you want the monthly payment to be?"  I said I don't give a fuck about the montly payment I want the car for this price.  He than tried to sell me the extended waranty, paint protectant and interior stain proofing.   ::)  He said it was only a couple bucks more a month and I told him to get fucked.  Its amazing people fall for that stuff.  :-\

I did get the Honda financing of 2.9% for 36 months.  Found out my credit score is 790   It does suck becuase I got a nice low payment of $705 a month.  But I don't care about the monthly payment becuase I plan on having it paid off by next May.

Lol do you understand what financing is?   $24,000 @ 2.9% for 36 months is $705... simple concept.  Whats so crazy?  I could have financed for a dollar a month for the rest of my life, would that be better?

yes i understand financing. doesn't change the fuck you pay $705 for a honda. at 2.9% interest you wouldn't have paid that much more.

still, 705  :o lol

especially funny since nothing new is going to hold its value especially in this economy, and the economy is just going to get worse. you're sinking tons of money into something that ain't worth shit when you pay it off.

i know a little something about buying brand new, paying it off in a year and having it be worth almost half of what it was new

btw YES, a dollar for the rest of your life would've probably been better... unless you plan on owning that car until you die.

mid 400s for a honda is still suicide territory. its a nice DD and car but i have had enough of buying new shit. waste of money... the only reason most people buy new is because they can't get credit for used. but at 790 whitney could've.

i've gotten as low as 5.2% on used and this was months ago.

I know exactly what you are saying.  I've been dealing with people over the internet to get pricing.  It's kind of a head trip though.  I ask for pricing, and they give me it and then won't negotiate.  I will never trust the first price a car dealership gives me.  They could give me a price $10k under invoice and I'm still not trusting it.  I expect to have to negotiate and when they won't, I get all freaked out.  That is why I didn't buy the MS3.  Guy said "Car is $19k".  I told him I'd buy it that day for $200 less.  He wouldn't drop the price a dime.  I figured he was somehow fucking me if his first price was his final price.

I also got the same bullshit with the monthly payment.  At that point my savings account was raking in 3% interest and I was going after a 1.99% interest rate.  I flat out told them, I'd put the least amount of money down if the interest was going to be 1.99 because I was making more money keeping it in my savings account than making a specific monthly payment.  The guys just couldn't get the concept that the end price is what matters when you have enough money to pay what you need to.  As long as I'm not paying $1000 a month, I don't care.  All of my income is disposable.  I'm 23 and live at home with basically no bills.  I can pay off a $1000 a month. I just want to make sure at the end of the period I made the best fiscal decision.  If that is a short loan with a high monthly payment, I'll do that.  If it's a longer loan with a low monthly payment, I'll do that.  People need to take algebra again and learn how to do some simple math.  It's amazing how stupid people are in regards to money.  Paycheck to paycheck niggas trying to drive around in new cars ruining the world for people with reasonable fiscal understandings.

Not necessarily true.  Used car financing is a lot less inciting than new car financing.  You may get a nicer car used for the same amount, but in the end you are still getting a car with an extra 60k miles and 3-4 years of life gone.  More to the new vs used argument when you are talking about average person cars.  Luxury cars buying new is stupid.  A $60k Mercedes is $35k 4 years later.  A Honda Civic/Accord only will drop about $3-4k after 3-4 years.  Not a huge drop.

Nice, pricey for a Hyundai. Looks promising though.

"With a base 2.0-liter turbo V-6, the coupe gets to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds.  The V6 version comes with leather interior standard, which is impressive for a car priced at $25,000.  Achieving 5.7 seconds for $25,000 makes the Genesis Coupe the least expensive 300 horsepower coupe in the world.  Moreover, the coupe is being certified to run on premium or regular unleaded gasoline while losing a mere four horsepower in the process.  The base V6 comes standard with a six-speed manual and sports fog lights, chrome fascia accents, and premium door sill plates.

Just as exciting is the overall Genesis Coupe base model, which comes in at $22,750 with a turbocharged, inline-four-cylinder base engine. It has been a while since we’ve seen a rear-drive four-cylinder coupe emerge for several years in the U.S."

Mom bought a 05 Equinox. Thought about selling a year after and used ones were being sold for $15k her's was stickered at $25k got it for $22k out the door. A prospective $7k loss after one year... no thanks. Sure it's a chebby, but it follows suit all around.
