Next beer recipe... which one should I make?
« on: June 10, 2009, 05:56:07 PM »

I haven't gotten into specific recipes of each, I just want to aim towards a type of beer (I have a handful of recipes for each).  So far I've made an IPA and an Irish Red that both turned out good.  I know it's not really the right season for a dark beer (like a porter), but I'd like to try out a darker malt.  Summer ale wouldn't be bad either, lighter and refreshing.

Poll ends tomorrow, I am going to pick up the ingredients then.

Not sure what you mean by summer ale, most summer beers are wheat beers, but that lemon shit sucks camel dicks.  Do a wheat, I just did a belgian wit, turned out real good, and have a pale ale finishing up now

fuck you, in 20mins i can go from money to ingested keystone ice

your arguement is invalid

There is something to be said about immediate gratification, however I think it's even better when you can create alcohol when the yeast shits it out and belches CO2.  Plus, I've had my fair share of Keystone & Natty.

Right, I would be shooting for a wheat ale.  I don't want to get too fancy with any citrus... maybe I'll do a Blue Moon clone sometime in the future.

i think you should stop messing with beer and start making whiskey or rum. some good shit.

I'll let the guys in JD's neck of the woods make the moonshine.

yes some scotch ales are very good had one from founders recently that was great and Robert the Bruce by Three Floyds is one of my favorites.  I think that may be my next with a little oak and a little bourbon.

Scotch ale will definitely be in the future.  I love Pike's Kilt Lifter (scotch ale), good shit.  This will only be my 3rd batch, so I'm starting with the basics.

Was that your beer at the meet? That shit was pretty good. I'm sure it woulda tasted better if it was cold.

I'd say do a summer ale.
