How much penetration should I have?

I just got my mig a couple weeks ago, ive been practicing on some 16ga 3" stainless exhaust pipe, I have rougly 1/8 to 1/16th penetration in the bore of the pipe, that is using .030 wire and 75/25 mix, my question is how much weld should be on the inside of the pipe?

Guessing a butt joint unless the OP has access to a tubing expander.

about 1/16" on the inside sounds about right to me.

ahh shit I dunno, I'm a noob lol. I cut the shit up with my chop saw and then welded it together, LOL. :P

If it is a butt joint, IE two pieces of tube together you should have full 100% pen on 1/16th
