i've een trying to download the datalogger from ectue and after download it wont open n gives me a error message telling me to contact ectune. i tried to download it 3 times n the samething everytime IDK

you're most likely computer issues.

i'm trying to download the ectune datalogger  to my laptop (window xp) and after i install it and try to open ectune it keeps giving me a error code saying to contact ectune and i've uninstalled and reinstall it 3 times and the same code comes up the error code is msgid oo1H machine ID F275CA-CAB567-67CB51-51A87D-7DF383-05

Machine Id is blocked. Most likely its the same as an other pc.

Wait for demon pro. I think it will be fixed by that.

ehh, the chances of having the same machine ID as another if fucking slim to none. basically your hard drive ID is static and will never change. so, if you MUST have eCtune, get yourself a new hard drive and everything will work fine.

In my experiences, I think it's based more on the windows ID than hardware, but likely Calvin will never clairify and I have no need or time to verity. My T60's XP recovery reinstaller doesn't ask for activation nor serial code (it make's its own?) -- reinstalling XP via recovery partition changes my machine ID every time, while re-installing XP with the CD/serial on my desktop would not change it.

When I had to return one of my drives, I think ectune still worked after I reloaded a backup. Not 100% sure if I'm thinking of eCtune or Crome, since my Crome/XP reinstall issue was what got me investigating. (I still haven't received my 1st replacement reg string for Crome )

So...I'm not too sure a new HDD would help.

Nah, you're fine.  I just don't want anything that touches on piracy.  Machine/hardware/software ID and how it can change with a reformat and different build of Windows is a *valid* concern for anyone.  Windows is a lot better than it was, but it's still now exactly stable, and sometimes you NEED to make your car run asap.  Small registration issues become huge, and it sucks.

just download XP pro from torrent site, burn the ISO with alcohol and reformat the dell. once you get it up and running just download the dell driver package from their site

ok got the datalogger now. i set up all the com ports now when i go in to connected the ecu it wont let me select connect or anything in the datalogging drop down. when i test the connection it says ecu found but it still wont let me select anything so i did the debug
and camr up with this

DTL: baud: 38400
DTL: try to open port: COM5
DTL: port: COM5 open: True
DTL: Ecu replied correct handshake byte

If the ECU is Found, then there is nothing to select.  Everything is working properly.  Close the settings box and CTRL + D your way to happiness.

yeah it says the ecu is found but the  connect and all settings in the datalog drop down isn't high lighted at all u cant click on them am i doing something wrong??
