Which seats to replace stock non-supportive accord junk
« on: June 17, 2009, 11:43:17 PM »

I was looking into getting new seats for my accord, since the stock ones are all broke down and not at all comfortable. What do you guys have or recommend?

I was looking at cheap racing seats on eBay and I wondered who had experience with them? A friend of mine has some and they are very stiff and not comfortable for even short rides, has anyone used some that are fairly decent?

Also, how safe are the no name 4 point belts? I would feel safer with some belts like that as opposed to the stock lap belt. Also if it is something that isn't as annoying as the stocker, I might actually use them. Are any of them DOT approved, and like better to save my ass compared to stock?

I don't want to change any of this stuff if it's going to risk my life more, I'm not so much afraid of me wrecking my car, but if someone pulls out in front of me or something, I don't want to risk my life, I want the safety and comfort those parts (should) provide.

eBay seats = lawn chairs. Do you want to be in a wreck sitting in one?

Just get some Integra seats and call it a day. My fav stock seats I have had so far were in my 91 Si hatch though

They are pretty damn nice when they aren't beat to shit.

I was partial to my DB2 seats with the adjustable side bolsters though.

Cheap seats off of eBay aren't even as good as lawn chairs.  I helped a friend fix one of those piles of shit twice.  The tubing was maybe 1/2" diameter with an 18 ga. wall thickness at the most.

Either find an OEM seat that you like or spend the bucks on a good aftermarket seat.

that's pretty much the answer I was looking for, I havnt really seen them up close andthats exactly how I pretty much figured they would be. Get what you pay for.

I'll have to junkyard search I have a feeling, or have mine redone and maybe get more support installed.

What about the belts??

The belts might be ok. I look at it like this. I can use cheap 1 ply toilet paper just fine, but I buy the nice cushy Charmin just for the safety of knowing my hand isn't going to go through it into a pit of shit.

Have you checked out summit racing seats?  They have simulated leather ones that are damn comfy, and fit big hips

http://summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G1159-2/

You could always rock a plastic racing seat.  They're like less than $100 with a cover

Dont get caught rolling around with the harness on. I had a friend who put a 5 point DOT apporved harness in my old hatch after i sold it to him and he got pulled over and ticketed for not wearing the seatbelt. I guess DOT approved doesnt mean shit to texas state troppers.

NO name brand cdm racing seats are death traps. I couldnt believe how badly these things are made and not to mention dangerous

Like many things Honda was nice to us and has lots of cool different styles of cars to choose from. The s2000 seats are fuckin badass but pricey. Rsx seats are also nice

The cheapest easiest sourced seats are integra. You shouldnt spend more than 150 for a good pair of fronts. Black gsr leather if your a baller.

I'd suggest itr recaro's but they're $650 for ONE from most jdm suppliers.

Like the op's said, oe integra is your best bet.  They are very comfy.

Delslow seats feel nice too.

Seats don't look bad at all if they are constructed well.

I suggest some Prelude seats. They bolt right in with little modifications to the brackets. Lots of people say they're uncomfortable, but I like em. You can find them at a JY for pretty cheap. My friend picked some up for $50.

^ I liked the seats in my 97 Lude. Nice and comfy. Actually I loved everything about the car. If it didn't have that weird ass shifting issue I would have kept it.

the more i read about the ebay ones, it makes me glad i didnt buy them a long time ago when i was thinking about it. it def. is one of the cases where you get what you pay for.

ITRs or s2k would really be badass, but not for the price.. ill stick with stock for that much $$$.

im 6' 1" 195, i dunno if that classifys as fatass, just mostly tall, thats why i drive an accord, i feel cramped in a civic.

thanks everyone

You would probably be OK in that Sparco then.

They seem to come up fairly cheap, they look alright, they're SUPER cuportive and light as hell. No recline... but who gives a fuck. They also come in a few colours so you can get ones that match the interior.
