I know it's not an SUV, but have you guys ever heard of the Isuzu Impulse RS?  For some reason, this is the first I've ever heard of it.  It was GM so the body looks like a Geo Storm, but the RS is AWD, turbo, suspension by Lotus supposedly. AWD consists of Front/Rear viscous LSD's, helical center diff.

I'm not really considering buying it, I'm just amazed I've never even heard of this thing.
You dont want that thing, I have a sweet 90 Subaru legacy ill sell you. Its shit brown the ladys love it

BTW, that RS runs the same dinky chihuahua head sized IHI turbo that came on 80s turbo Subarus, or on jagojon3's car.  It has a wierdfuck 5 bolt flange, but you can swap the turbine housings directly over or you can use the Subaru housing as the turbine entry and the Scooby 3-bolt pattern perfectly aligns things.

If it were mine I'd put a WRX turbo on it out of the gate and enjoy.

ej205 or ej255?

I would imagine the smaller turbo would work better since it's a 1.6 liter with almost an economy flowing head.  EJ205 = TD04L-13g?

Got an email with pics of the rust.  Living in the NW I haven't dealt with rust... is this fixable, or worth making an offer? (sorry for the size, can't resize at work)

The car is fixable, but rust is always three times worse than it apprears.

living in indiana and dealing with rust nearly all of my life, I would not even consider fixing that.

The guy emailed me and said he got a quote of $700 to fix the rust.

Using that info, I sent him the following email (offering $750 vs his $1800 asking price):

"I don't know if you're willing to negotiate, but Blue Book has this car valued at $1,300 in excellent condition.  I think the car can actually sell for more like $1,500 in excellent condition.  Using that as a starting point and considering the cost of repairs ($700 for rust + about $100 for a rebuilt/junkyard turbo), I would be willing to offer $750.

Based on those calculations and the Blue Book "fair" condition guideline I believe this is a reasonable offer.  It's possible  the car may be worth more to someone else that can live with the rust, but I would need to get it fixed."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
KBB private party "fair" condition says $770, so I think it's pretty reasonable.

We'll see.

That drivetrain bolts into everything, from Geo Storms to Isuzu I-Marks.  If the body is shitcanned, which based on my british sportscar experience it is not, you have options.
