I walked into my first 5 guys here in Salt Lake City yesterday arvo wearing an in-n-out T shirt and got myself a burger and fries. The manager/owner rocked up part way through the order and said something like "Nice shirt, but I don't know about in-n-out, if I give you this, [5 guys T shirt] will you wear it?" and pushed a 5 guys T shirt across the counter at me - "Yes, of course! :-)" so now I have two shirts, I wonder how many 5 guys shirts I can get by repeating the experiment across the east coast?

Summary of in-n-out vs. 5 guys is:

They are different things catering to different people and needs.

The 5 guys burger is a better burger, a real burger, and priced accordingly, whereas the in-n-out burger is "fast food done right" - ie, it doesn't suck, but isn't spectacular. Someone that posted above already said something like this though.

I'll be getting some 5 guys burgers in future for sure, but I'll still love in-n-out for what it is.

Other points of interest :

5 guys fries only come in "way too much for one dude" size (at the smallest)
5 guys have no shakes

That is about all I have to say on the matter till I post the somewhat staged pics :-)

You should just go out there one weekend day and do it, it's only 1.5 hours each way and a tank of gas. Good fun :-)

And yes, seen the worlds fastest indian :-) My volvo is entirely un-homemade though, BUT, I did max it out at 100mph and 6000rpm in 3rd gear on the Bonneville salt flats today!! :-) :-D If only it had a manual trans and holset... :-)

Seriously, I only had to wait more than a few seconds in the San Fran branch. The fries taste different to mcds because they are not thrown in frozen - this is a good thing in my eyes.

Hello all.

I'm in NYC right now, if you're significantly west of here, possibly except LA and SD then I've missed you. If you are down the east coast and posted or pmed that you want to meet up, put up a reminder of roughly where you are etc.

I'm having trouble keeping track of the dozens of offers and have missed dozens of people already (more offers than days to take them up LOL). Help me not miss more.

By the time I make it down to atlanta etc I'll have the volvo running fuel only FreeEMS, it sorta ran already, shhhh, but I've fixed some code since then and almost have it sweet. Videos to be posted around the place when I'm happy with how it works (in a very basic way).
