smoking.alot.their was very little shaft play.

those turbos are really easy to rebuild, as long as you have basic mechanical skill. and some c clip pliers, call a few local shops to get the shaft straightened also mark the impeller to the shaft where it was sitting then when you bolt the impeller back on it should be good. but i always take my shafts to a local shop to get polished/straightened. they dont have a spin balencer but its the next best thing without forking our thousands on a spin balencer

as long as you get it straightened with new bearings and seals it will be fine, and tq everything to spec, also run a oil restrictor if your not already, the oil seals blow in mitsu turbos

I wouldnt waste my money balancing shit. just rebuild it yourself, and slap new bearings in when they get worn.  Pretty sure the torque spec for the comp. nut is 16in-lb, let me double check that though.

i used to be really against rebuilding turbos the DIY way, but i had a blown CDM turbo and a free rebuild kit so i said why not. that turbo has been great to me. spools nice, no smoke and no shaft play and it has a ton of hard miles on it. as long as there is no damage to the wheels i say go for it. make sure you mark them so they go back the way they came off

WHEN you need to rebuild the turbo again (not difficult) you will be buying a $120 kit as apposed to the $30 TDO5H kit for the 16g, and make more useable power.  The 16g aint the greatest, but it gets the job done.  I destroyed many corvettes with my 16g integra.
