Turbo Spark Plugs
« on: October 18, 2009, 08:06:42 PM »

I know when you boost you need 1 or 2 step colder spark plugs anyone know where I can buy some NGK ZFR6F-11, or the proper spark plugs when boosting.

Couple years ago I used to could go to autozone and pick up NGK BKR7E's for my miata, but now they don't carry them, neither do the O'reilly's. NAPA still does though.

they are a bit higher in the price range but nothing crazy,

getting the right plug and gapping them properly makes a WORLD of difference

before i was using zfr6-11's and it would break up above 5000 rpm

bkr7e at .027 and

Use ngk 9, sometimes 8 race plugs non resistor even though HO data say not to use them.
from www.clubplug.net $1.95 each buy them in bulk, I know someone gonna buy a bunch resell them for more.

Question: Can you have plugs that are too cold for your setup? Or you can run the colder you can get?

Yes, they tend to foul easy when they are too cold.

I never had a problem with 8 or 9 plugs, but I did have issues with 7's  breaking up in the 7000rpm range even at tighter gaps. I run ngk 9 gapped to 0.22 and get the best results. I rum msd stuff+ e85 reving to 9600rpm smooth the whole way. just ordered $60 worth of plugs.

Next time you guys are at the parts store, ask them for NGK 4644. I went to Napa, and they have it cross referenced correctly. For some reason Checkers, Vato Zone, Advanced, none of them have it referenced. They say it was changed to something else, and that something else was discontinued.

The NGK 4644 even SAYS BKR7E on the box, right above 4644, but its not in the computer like that. Even the retards at the counter were astonished by this. I can post a picture of the box later... The plugs say NGK "R" on them, nothing else.
