Most power-making DP vents the exhaust past a bulkhead, meaning out of the engine bay. 20-40HP just for routing the dump tube past the oil pan.
I've seen an ED with the 3" filter routed through the driver's frame out to where the washer bottle used to be. Unless you're running 900whp, I wouldn't worry about the frame weakening from the hole. If nothing else, "plate" the surrounding material. Regardless, you still have the firewall, rear x-member, front x-member, and bumper support all bracing the front end. It's also a big square rail you're cutting into, so it still retains strength. Your biggest problem will lining it all up, and not getting any banging as the motor moves.
