If NECKCAR could just get out of the stoneage with thier engines and fuel systems they would probably get more people to watch and like it.

Funny, they get a 2% a year increase in power every year across a restrictor plate.  You see pushrods and carbs but some of those guys know more than the F1 dudes ever will about getting the job done.  I miss the heydays of the 70s and early 80s where it was about cheating and not getting caught, those motherfuckers were creative.

F1, on the contrary, knows how built a block out of tissue paper that weigh four pounds and will fall apart exactly 100 feet after the finish line.  That's pretty exacting but it also throws money around like water.  Kinda doesn't sit right with me.  There are some local guys with Winston Cup engines dropped in old Vettes and Cobra replicas tearing up the hillclimbs, they last for years after being decommissioned and sold to the general public at very affordable prices.

When I watch NECKCAR and see fans all I see is a bounch of brand chasing sheep.

Funny, that's what I see with F1's high end douchbaggery.  The euro mentality is retarded, most of the car guys over there would NEVER EVER do it themselves, they jock brand names and use someone else's "excellence" as a reason why they shouldn't bother to try.  It's like talking to late middle aged kotex members with two corncobs shoved up their asses, and a foreign lisp.

I've been to a WRC event and a bunch of nw and mw rally events its my second favorite after sprint cars.

F1 is the shit but all the teams are so hush hush and dickheads it really tares away at the sport.

i agree with alot of what JD said here... alot of nascar drivers do know their way around a car, but with the new generation coming about, with douchebags like kyle busch and jimmy johnson, that remind me alot of the F1 drivers. I havnt spent alot of time watching F1, but what i have seen are exactly what is described above...

i have always loved dirt, from rally to motocross, i have always preferred dirt. i spent alot of time growing up around dirt cars, spend a few years on and off fabbing dirt cars, mostly limited late models, e-mods, and late models. spent a few hot laps behind the wheel of one but never had the cash to have my own. absolutely the most badass thing in the world to pin the throttle of a 800+ hp 2300lb car, the feeling is like no other. i can only imagine what a sprint car feels like..

the thing i respect most with dirt is the drivers have to know the cars and almost all of them work on their cars, unlike alot of other forms of racing. those guys are generally running 3 races a week, and it is your life. you work during the day, and prepping the racecar is what you do at night.

to me dirt>asphalt.. there was a phrase that always used to go around the pits, dirt is for racing, asphalt is to get you there.

I like both series. Its hard to compare them since they are focus in two completely different worlds. F1 teams are soooo technical about everything they do that's impossible to the general public to have a feel for the sport outside the grandprix weekend. contrary in nascar, where, as someone said earlier you can obtain an engine from a team at an affordable price and drop it in your vette, mustang, etc... thats why it is call STOCK racing isnt it?? even tho the cars dont really look like the real ones on the street anymore. In my opinion, if you love the technical side of it, (fucking awesome aerodinamics, engine management suspension etc etc) formula one is the shit and you will love every second of it. if you love to see aggresive drivers, awesome bump drafting, and very close racing, then nascar is good. as i said earlier its like compare soccer and football. two different animals

"Dirt's for racin'.  Asphalt's for gettin' there."

local sprint/late model/mod dirt track to me, theres something entertaining about watching an engine with 4 wheels and a wing go sideways at 90mph for 60% of the track with 800hp+

LMAO! what fucking track are you at? 90MPH? lol they are going well over 140 here. late model blows and doesnt even relate to sprint cars. 900HP+ small block 410CI and the skill to get the power to the ground, You dont even have the slightest clue.

Late models are garbage, Big block carbureted piles of fail.

The conversation went from state of the art Formula One to backyard dirt track racing Americam made fail. The digression is like watching mountain climbers in an avalanche. It's all downhill from here.

Sort of like your history on this site, starting out with a turbo bike and then the long slide into your e-persona as "the tuff"?

I think that this coming season of F1 is going to be interesting.

Schumacher is back.  http://formula-one.speedtv.com/article/f1-schumacher-helps-sell-tickets-cars/

With no KERS and 23 teams a real US team coming together, this is going to be serious season.

it'll be retro, really.

26 car grids and no refueling was the way F1 was when i started watching it in 1989. i saw senna spin in his own oil at monza and i was hooked.

i think my disdain for nascar comes from the fact that it reminds me of driving in rush hour traffic here in minneapolis- there are several rows of cars and no one is making any sort of progress to make it past the slowtards at the front of the line. it's frustrating at 40mph. it's frustrating at 200mph. i once heard nascar described as "watching a bag of skittles swirl down the toilet." that about sums it up for me.

i give their motor builders credit though, an F1 engine may spin to 19,000rpm, but a nascar engine sees significantly higher piston speeds due to the longer stroke.

i'm not particularly interested in schumacher coming back. i was never a fan. adelaide '94 showed me what kind of driver he was. if anything, i feel bad for nico rosberg, since he has zero chance of being competitive with michael as his teammate. michael's politics just won't allow for his teammate to have a car with the same level of performance.. though the refueling ban will make schumacher less competitive.

I know, right.  Way to advance the technology all the way to the 80's.  Maybe they could make them run turbo 4's or V6's too.  It would at least be more interesting than "this is a 900hp V8".  I say pull all the rules off of the technology, and let them do the kinda stuff that happened in F1.

http://www.nwpro4alliance.com/index.html and faster than the FSCRA cars. i think they should alow EFI in pro4. everyone bitched about it in FSCRA for years and nothing realy happened and that was just a series with maybe 100 low buget teams at the most. if theres one guy who says i'll quit if they switch to EFI they'll never do it.

how can they say they are anything like the production cars they are named after with rwd pushrod v8's? I would be more impressed if they shared anything other than a brand name
