the h2 is built on the chevy 1500 frame with larger wheels. so in theroy it is a dressed up tahoe. its noting compared to a h1. we have towed so many of these back to the dealer. i dunno, we dont tow to many 1500 trucks but they tryied to dress these up so much that it cause alot of problems.
Wrong...
"The H2's final frame assembly is made up of 3 sections: The front uses a modified GM 2500-Series utility frame, the mid-section is all new and is completely boxed, and the rear section uses a modified GM 1500-Series frame which is upgraded for the 8,600 pounds (3,900 kg) gross vehicle weight."
As far as the reason you tow so many isn't because of the car...it's because some yuppy fuck spent 65K on it then thought it could drive through a lake, climb a 85* angle, and tow a fucking skyscraper. It isn't the car it's the idiots that bought into the bullshit hype.
The reason you don't tow too many 1500's (which I personally disagree with, being a mechanic it's been the years of working on chev 1500's that paid for this) is because people buy a 1500 knowing it's limitations, if they are going to do a lot of towing/heavy working they get the 2500 or 3500.
