Anybody interested in Network Cables?
« on: March 18, 2009, 09:52:18 PM »

Well i purchased a 50' network cable and this shit is expensive as hell. i didnt have my tools at the time and i didnt want to drive to work to get them.

I have tools and CAT5E to make the network cable, my question is...would anybody be interested in buying them if i were to make some? I can only imagine half the people on this site are wireless

I can make them in whatever lengths you would like, i need to figure out a rate though per foot

Damn, you got a good deal.  I had to pay $19 + tax for a fucking 12" sata cable because I needed it immediately.

I was so glad my motherboard came with 4 sata cables.

i work at best buy. most of the cables are hell marked up. the best buy employee discount is 5% above cost. when i was hooking up my girls 42" lcd we went to go get hdmi and audio cables. i brought all the cheap dynex shit. all the cables at regular price came up to $175, when i put in my employee discount it droped down to $17

i was looking at a cheap wall mount the other day. it was $119 wuth my discount it was $19. best buy makes almost no money on selling tv. sometimes they loose money selling computers. all there margin is in accessories.

HDMI cable at Best Buy = ~$100
online = ~$5

a place across town from me sells nothing but cables.  25/50/100ft cat5's are cheap as dirt.

Yeah one of my friends works at staples and he's always saying how cables of any kind are just marked up a ridiculous amount.

My dad scored a few 1000' boxes of plenum-rated Cat5e, he wired up shit at some Sears store remodel. They were throwing out maybe 10k feet total. Crimpers are $10-15 on ebay, connectors are $5/20 or something. Needless to say my room is well-wired. :P

I think your best bet would be to sell on craigslist, but people probably already do that.
