No, Harley couldnt get the V-rod motors to last, so they hired Porsche Engineering firm to redesign it. They dont make the engines, otherwise you would technically have a VW motor on the vrod wouldnt you?
Not true either. Harley had some basic guidelines for porsche and left the rest up to them. Basically a v-twin that still sounded and felt like a harley. Porsche was 100% responsible for the drivetrain.
I'm not a big Buell fan at all but i got to know a bit about them. I worked for Mercury Marine for a while and they had recently hired Klaus Fouss to lead their 4-stroke development. While Klaus was at Porsche he was the project manager for the v-rod project before coming to Mercury. He was also my boss while I was in the base engine department and I worked with him daily. He did eventually return to Porsche but I had left before then.
Um not to be an ass, but how is what you said any different than what I said?
Did Harley not let porsche re-design it? Of course they had basic guidelines. As any company hiring an outside firm would have. What point are you trying to make with that?
I dont see exactly how my statement was untrue, and yours was, since they were more or less the same thing? Enlighten me.
