who know yamaha street bike turboin'
« on: November 29, 2009, 10:31:16 PM »

So I got a "r1" swap and it turns out its a 06 fz1 yamaha, Same thing as a r1 but higher gears on the 5th and 6th, lower compression and gayer cams. The r1 is 180hp and the fz1 is 140 but more low and midrange. So now I'm thinking it might be better but maybe not, it needs boost. putting a mani and turbo on it is fuck all, I cant find what to use for managment though.

i'm turboing an 05' R1 at the moment for a customer. It is NOT an easy affair, lots of custom cnc parts being made so far. If it was a suzuki i would say it is a cake walk.

I would prefer to wait untill it is complete to make a thread. but pm me and we can talk. i have some pictures and custom parts that i had made that are in the works to be put into production peices as it seems everyone can slap a turbo on a suzuki but the yamaha's suck balls do to the flanged intakes.

Running a PC3 Power Commander in a boosted bike is like running a VAFC hack on a Ferrari. It is a risky at best best with a good tune and will need to be tuned constantly.

Your best bet is to run MegaSquirt or MicroSquirt as they have provisions for boost/ignition control/stepper IAC control/nitrous control, ect.

I'm also a little confused when you said you bought an R1 swap and "realized" it was am FZ1. That's like saying you bought a Prelude and "realized" it was an Accord. Is the chassis an FZ1 with an R1 conversion? (That's a lot of work) Or is it an R1 with an FZ1 eninge? (Also a lot of work for a down-grade)

yes it is a fz1 complete swap. I was told it was a r1 swap and the engine codes are the same.

Pretty sure that still makes no "sense" so...

Is it an FZ1 with an R1...? If so,then what with the story about low compression?

You either have -

FZ1/FZ1

FZ1/R1

R1/R1

R1/FZ1

So which is it?

Okay, that's what I was looking for.

The R1 and FZ1 share a common engine block (probably why the casing codes are the same) with different internals and (If I recall correctly) different head geometry. That engine should take to boost just fine, but the Alpha-N injection system won't know what to do with boost as it is mainly an "extrapolated" speed density system.

A PC3 is just going to intercept and modify the inputs from the sensors, augment them and "trick" the ECU into changing it's fueling by reading from different stock parameters. It will NOT give the ECU the information it needs to calculate fueling for a higher volume/denser charge. You will also not be able to run larger injectors on a stock ECU without a MAJOR headache.

Bottom line is you'll need a solution with more capabilities than a PC3 if you want the engine to survive.

Wow, your neuro-atrophy is astounding! If you close all your NAMBLA tabs and pay attention to the thread, you would see no argument there was a swap, just confusion as to what the "swap" was. It wasn't exactly clear in the OP.

Keep taint-tickling, it's brought you this far in life Sweetcakes.

from what I can tell, it has a heiver crank, lower compression pistons and gayer cams. All the castings are the same, the ecu case is different (plugs and shape) and a higher 5th and 6th gear. I might be easier for me to do a stand alone anyways since a harness would need modded.

Are you saying it has a heavier crank from a side by side comparison?

i think only you were confused as what he was talking about. he clearly said what he had. what he was told, and what he researched. then you came in and tried to act bike smart and came out looking stupid. if you would just read it would of made you seem like you could comprend more then a shit from a steamy shit. not saying you didnt know what you were talking about just that you are a retard. you're thinking outside the box when you dont even have a box.

WUT?

Wrong there Fresh Fish.

1) He said he had an R1 Swap.

2) Turns out the engine is an FZ1 engine (less powerful)

I guess you don't know close to enough about bikes to BE confused. THERE IS NO R1 ENGINE. WHY WAS A "SWAP" BROUGHT UP?

When someone says "swap" that is indicative of there being a transplant of engine units. There is apparently just the engine assembly and supporting equipment. It was worded in a manor that didn't make sense but Highroller clarified.

Thanks for jumping on the fuck TG bandwagon though, it's nice to know I still have fans. You and Tubgirlb16snatch can keep spooning each other with your FWD economy cars while getting smoked by DSMs and Mustangs. But rest assured, you don't want to get into a pissing contest with me about motorcycles, watercraft, or ATVs little lady. Your "I think I know how's" are no match for my type-U knowlegeabilities. (The U standing for the inability to be contolled)

Your Honda-Tech faggotry is not condoned here.
