Topic: anybody have shingles before? (Read 3682 times)

well so i have shingles. anyone who dosent know about its a kinda rash. you are prone to getting it if you have ever had chicken pox, its kinda a adult version of it. so anyway its been like 3 weeks for me now, i have it on my scalp. been to the doctor twice and have to go back tomorrow.
the pain is horrible, last week it was so bad that i couldnt sleep at all, was up for nearly 50 hours, can only sleep an hour or so at a time, and it makes it so much worse cause its on my head. i cant even put my head down on a pillow cause i just feel the pain even more. it feels like someone is taking an ice pick and is just crapping it against my head 24/7. and it was all the way down to my neck last week so i couldnt even move my neck at all. i just feel pist off all the time. i cant work at all cause of the meds/non sleep i get.
lately its been getting alot better. but still am not up for working at all. anybody ever have this? i heard it can last months and even years, and do damage to your nerves the rest of your life. i hope to god this dosent happen to me.

anyway just a rant. of course this happens around the favorite time of year for me... christmas, my birthday and new years. just my luck i guess

My grandpa had shingles 5 years ago, he's 88 now. He was in constant pain all over for several weeks. But unlike you he's a WW2 vet and more badass than even JD. This may sound LOL, but I shit you not - he started re-roofing his house while he still had shingles! True pun aside, he said it was far worse than the 2 times he got shot in Germany.

In all seriousness, the vets who aren't sketchy are usually the best people. They really know what difficulty is, and have no problems with putting in a stress free day of hard work.

I always thought shingles is what they put on roofs to help keep the weather coming through the top of your house. ;D

i thought you were talking about my grandpa for a moment haha. mine also got shingles about 5 years ago when he went up to canada to visit some of his kids. hes 94 now. i could go on forever about how badass and hard core my grandpa is but i dont want to make everyones gramps seem like losers.

No shit, my grampa is somethin else. He just got over limphoma and needs his knees replaced, and for the first time in his life asked someone else to fix his car (me ;D). He was also the "golden glove" boxing champ the army (dunno how many ppl that covered), and a few years ago he actually knocked some teenager out who wouldn't get off his car in the parking lot. It sucks because his 1940's Ford is soooo close to done. Yeah, most old vets are the real deal. They went through a lot when you think about it. Nothing like adults now adays.
