I thought the same thing then insomnia got the upper hand. There is nothing else on at 3:00am. The show, no matter how trashy, is entertainment purely for the fact that these people that are "so cool" are actually morally devoid, empty, meaningless douchbags, and you can't help but be embarrassed for them.
I equate it to watching a car accident with kids in the back of the car. You don't ever want to see it, but can't look away and are captivated by the carnage. They are not "real", they are not "hard", they are not even really adults. If you ever feel bad about yourself, or maybe a little depressed, just watch that show. You will realize you could be a lot worst off.
