depends on what bore you are using mine is 85mm, so i used the f22, 86mm go f23, 87mm go h22

excellent, well right now i have the problem of the piston sticking out the bore just a cunt. i have a je 10.5 87 mm piston. BUT we turned the dome off and then just a little more I'm guessing 10.1 now.but again its not becuz of the piston height on it. i threw the head on with some solder on the piston and turned it and it squished the solder a little. thats with no headgasket. im tepted to put it together but i dont want to run into an issue with it. and i can always have the combustion chamber machined (countersink) for the piston but im not game for that either. might throw a .045/.051" head gasket on it.. hmmmm  your opinions??

exactly how much is a "cunt?"

when you say it smashed the solder, how thick was the piece after it was "smashed?"

your best bet is to put it together with a stock head gasket, if you have one laying around, and clay check its clearances. a ".045/.051" would prolly be about perfect if its like what the domestics use for tolerances.

i know in the domestic world i come from you are looking for .040, the last SBC i built was .038 IIRC, and it actually left i slight little "ring" in the head where the piston contacted it, it wasnt actually dented, just a little shiny. the machinist kept saying how "perfect" it was.

what are your plans with this motor?

Measure the thickness of the solder, and piston to wall clearance.  We can't tell you shit otherwise.

You're getting ahead of yourself, that is not your true quench clearance.  What piston to wall?

no idea just got it back from the shop the other day. im thinking it should be alright. fuck if i know.  and when your like we cant tell you otherwise. if you could elaborate on what you mean by how the piston to wall clearance would effect it would be cool becuz i dont understand why that matters, and it doesnt matter the heads on haha turned it over no binding or stopping or noises.

The piston rocks in the sloppy bore and reduces your actual quench clearance.

Sir, I'm going to tell you this now - if you don't know your own piston to wall clearance then there's a problem, and the motor you're assembling might not hold together.  You really need a good machinist AND you need to be the expert on your engine if they are not.  This is how domestic machinists fuck up import engines - they go off of what they know and do a damn fine job of that, but it's not what the engine needs.

he took it to a machine shop to get the bottom end assembled. the machine shop is actually pretty good with imports and im guessing they set the ptw at je specs. i havent personally talked to him for awhile but im sure its on the tighter end of that bc he didnt plan on alot of boost so prolly .003"- .004" jerry?
