Making a mani
« on: February 11, 2010, 08:01:55 PM »

Has any one seen a manifold done like this before;

"designed some manifolds in Solid Edge (3d Cad Software)"

The collector part is what caught my eye, looks super easy that way.

well if you have the tools to cut a collector making a jig to hold a pipe at a given angle really shouldn't be to hard. It looks cool, but more work then i would do for a simple manifold.

who has time to draw these up?  i sure don't.  a cage, yeah, it is probably worth it, but a manifold, i don't see the need.  nice work though.

if you need a diagram to build a manifold, you shouldnt be trying to build a manifold.

This pretty much sums it up. I have made notes in the past, and i do put guid bars on jigs for manifolds like the rb25 one i made. but i do not require a cad drawing. It looks more like a nerd who was bored.

The collector wrappers are nice but if you can't jig them properly whats the point of the whole thing?

if you need a diagram to build a manifold, you shouldnt be trying to build a manifold.

i didnt notice the collector templates, that would be nice for a manifold you are only going to make once. any more than that, a jig is easy

what we need is a DIY thread on making a jig to mass produce nog manifolds, not just the collector.

oh i could post a jig. there less complicated then some think. It's just 2 plates with some rod welded between the two. then if needed i weld on some guide rods to quide the runners a certain way.

uhhh we all knew evilles mani looked like it... no one cared, that style has been around longer than your mommas cooter.  Its hardly a copy of yours...Thats about he easiest manifold to build And because I'm an intellectual being,  a log, hence why he probably went that route with your fail... to get you as far away as possible as quickly as practical.

Lol at you clowns thinking building a manifold from a print is easier than free handing it. I'd like to see any of you hold even .060" over 20" on a multiple tube assembly. ::)

Doesn't look horrible. The whole solid model -> sheet metal -> flat pattern 1:1 scale CAD trick works really well for tube copes. You can build a cage that fits perfectly with nothing more than an angle grinder. Of course, most of us on here could do that anyways without the flat pattern :P
