404's or go home. Although i would try delta regrinds before dropping the money on crowers.

I had the deltas and sold them to aj.

403-404 are crower cams for the ls engine

Dad had a 63 droppy with a 409 and dual quads before i was born... Said it used to rip rear ends out of it monthly.  Love the look of the 409 and 348 valvecovers... Kinda the knucklehead of the bowtie camp... LOL

404's seem to be the ticket and crower is selling them on the cheap these days. I would atleast if the motor is stock to have the head milled for a little bit of a compression jump cant beat the performance gains for 50 bucks.

From what J davis has written about them you shouldnt have a problem with that choice.

Likely the only person here who can tell a 348 block from a 409 block from 10 feet.

I can tell you everything about a dohc zc  :'(

Oh see what kind of pricing you can get on those cams if buying new. I have a pretty good deal on crower stuff.

I'm going to assume he's talking about LS aftermarket cams.

404's or go home. Although i would try delta regrinds before dropping the money on crowers.

Here's some info for ya on that.

Stock OBD2 B20Z, with the higher compression and "better" stock cams have made exactly 150 whp on this dyno.  Here's Wes' B20B with Delta 272's, stock cam gear setting vs two hours of playing on the dyno:

Same car and owner but with an LS instead, stock rod B16 piston, and 403 cams.  Stock cam gear settings vs an hour and a quarter playing with them:

For shits and giggles, with a 65 shot.  Notice how power flattened and torque fell like a stone - exhaust ports were becoming choked "for that cam gear setting" and if this were a pure nitrous motor we could have tuned the gears for making power on the nitrous.

Anyway, incomplete thought above.

I think I'd rock Delta regrinds for a NA car in a heartbeat if I got them a little cheaper than they sell them, but for a turbo car I would go there.  They were super responsive on the dyno, and while I'm not used to cam gear adjustments on B-series being worth doing I feel that they would respond really well for a turbo setup.  As such, I'd probably pay what Delta charges if it were for a turbo car.  BTW, idle was super smooth.

As far as 402T, 403, 404...

Go 404 for NA and pile some compression on, do the lazy man's B16 piston in an otherwise stock bottom end for 11.5:1, or since you have plenty of overlap at low rpms feel free to try 12-12.5:1 on pump gas.  LS heads really don't detonate like other Honda heads, either, super friendly toward n00b tuning.

For boost, pick whichever of the cams you find for five fucking dollars and roll the fuck out.  You will be happy.  FUCK YEAH!!

Idle is generally stock to good with 402T, 403.  I've seen 404's beat the ground (still a stable and controllable idle) and I've seen them act stock, it really depends on exhaust.

Also, you need valvesprings for all of those cams, even the Deltas.  Avoid Skank9 valvesprings for LS they are garbage... Skank will be super cool about warrantying them when they break on a weekly basis but they won't refund your money or send you a product that doesn't break.  Anything else should work fine.
