So I had some shit in the trunk that I forgot about, and went for a drive over a winding road near my house. Of course, things shifted around, and hit one of my subs, making a nice hole all the way through the dust cover and the cone.
There was an entire piece missing, which I had to shake out of it:
BTW, all of these are taken with the webcam in my laptop. Batteries were dead in all my cameras.
I kinda had to pry up the cracked parts to get them to all go back on top of each other so the cracks could line up.
After using a shitload of superglue, and making patches with electrical tape on the inside of the cracks (to hold the glue up in there), I got the piece that broke out that I recovered wedged/half taped into place, and glued that in. At this point I found out there was another shard missing, so I just said fuck it, and wadded up some electrical tape and glued it in. If this fails, a new piece will be made out of JB weld.
I figure, worst case, the thing is slightly messed up, but not leaking anymore, and I can use it until I buy another one to replace it for $50. I just got sick of hearing the thing bottoming out even at lower volumes. I guess I'll find out tomorrow.
These can't hurt either.
