I've done that with a D-series short block, flywheel, clutch and oil pan, no crank pulley or accessories before.

My back hated me for it later.

Not that big...dad just always made me dead lift wood up onto the back of a flatbed when i lived in AK for firewood...chuck fed me and i moved the engine blocks up and down from the basement to the driveway.

The only OBX topmount I had experience with (it may have been generic china, but was thick walled which I associate with OBX) required a T04 on center turbine housing.  It was on an EM1 chassis, and the guy only had a tangental housing + decided to cut into the headlight frame and run no hood to make it work.  Not what I would have done.

Be ready to test fit and take that right off, ED are a much tighter chassis with less clearance.

FYI, made 422 whp off a B16 with 60-1 on that manifold, sprayed a 100 shot and made 574 with slicks breaking free at 7500 rpms.  Local heart breaker Mustang dyno.  There's nothing wrong with those as far as power production, and the one I'm thinking of didn't have any cracking problems.

Block + head together? That's impressive  :?:

I did it yesterday with a complete b18a1 block with flywheel, but without the head and it was a fucking pain in the ass. I had to lift it at least 20 times to be able to align it correctly with the bolt hole... Like you, I had to hold it with one hand and the other trying to fit the bolt in the fucking hole.

I'm 6' tall and weight 150lbs btw.

He kinda bear hugged it with the head and valve cover....  No fuilds in it with the crank pully in the sky...  No fly wheel i dont  think...

So the OBX topmount fits but like JD said im gonna have to trim the headlight sheet metal...  MAYBE NOT if you guys think it wont hurt my ebay turbo if i cut about half of the intake side off it....

I did this with my D16.  I had two jack stands to hold the short block close to the height I needed to line up the input shaft to my clutch.

I also used to old head bolts on top of the block to help with controlling the movement of the block when I was setting it in the bay on the jack stands.

Some pics of the most recent setup taken today, still needs to trim some more spots on the frame and maybe even the compressor housing. Nice tight fit just how she likes it :).

A little screen could work, and also this wont be a DD...so even without one he would be fine....for a little bit haha.
