Fuck red light cameras, I only glanced at the thread and wrote about red to green clickers instead because my reading comprehension sucks. Fuck red light cameras, if he wants to post about it, move it to OG section, do not post it on public.
In the emergency vehicles I've driven there was never anything separate to turn on, if you were coming lights and bells it was automatic - I was of the understanding that it was just part of the strobing on the light bar. The rig here in new york for our ambulance corp definitely changes all the lights I've passed, in PA various police vehicles would/wouldn't. The suvs/vans even with full bars would not affect the lights but most people are smart enough to stop and let them through anyways.
I believe it is a locality based thing anyways - all traffic lights operate based on the pressure sensors in the road vs the time, but they are overridden by specific FPS of strobes in emergency vehicles, but in some areas with newer traffic gear it is done by a radio system that acts even further in advance, ie a police car barreling at an intersection at 60mph would not benefit much from a signal change at the .01 second time frame that it was close enough to light sensors. Radio senders work a good bit further in advance.
