GPS advice
« on: June 11, 2010, 02:23:24 PM »

So I have a device that renders traffic light cameras useless, but it has to manually be turned on and off right now.  I need something to automate the process.  I also need to be able to enter in where the traffic light cameras are.  Where the fuck do I begin?

Umm... I have something that prevents a traffic camera from taking a picture of your car that runs off of 12v.  I need something to automate the process.  I'll hook anybody that helps get this working the fuck up.

A bright flashing light?
My friend used to have a spot light he would flash at stop light to make them turn green something to do with an emergency thing. I called BS tho.

I got popped using a radar jammer once. He knew I was speeding and jamming but shit didn't hold up in court.
God I loved that thing.

Definitely sounds like BS or ricers with HID bulbs in stock housing would never be stopped at a red light.

I doubt they'd be able to use a radio to signal it since I think radio waves are omnidirectional for the most part, which leads me to believe they do use some sort of light/laser/cunt, but shining a spotlight really sounds like BS.

OK, that would confirm my guess that it's a light source at a specific frequency.

Anyway I wouldn't fuck with that.  If somehow you managed to get caught, you'd be in some dookie.

I was just thinking about all the shit I did to my first car to not get caught speeding instead of just slowing down.

license plate motion cover
escort
scorpion radar jammer

I wish I would have never sold the jammer I found it at a junk yard on a totalled 80s camaro told the dude up front it was a stereo thing got it for 5 bucks.

Yeah let me in on this too, what is it and how does it work.  And what is a felony that you sold for $150 bucks?  I dont plan on running red lights, i've never got a red light ticket before, but fuck the cameras.

Fuck red light cameras, I only glanced at the thread and wrote about red to green clickers instead because my reading comprehension sucks. Fuck red light cameras, if he wants to post about it, move it to OG section, do not post it on public.

In the emergency vehicles I've driven there was never anything separate to turn on, if you were coming lights and bells it was automatic - I was of the understanding that it was just part of the strobing on the light bar. The rig here in new york for our ambulance corp definitely changes all the lights I've passed, in PA various police vehicles would/wouldn't. The suvs/vans even with full bars would not affect the lights but most people are smart enough to stop and let them through anyways.

I believe it is a locality based thing anyways - all traffic lights operate based on the pressure sensors in the road vs the time, but they are overridden by specific FPS of strobes in emergency vehicles, but in some areas with newer traffic gear it is done by a radio system that acts even further in advance, ie a police car barreling at an intersection at 60mph would not benefit much from a signal change at the .01 second time frame that it was close enough to light sensors. Radio senders work a good bit further in advance.

And other random worthless fact, the chirping you hear emergency vehicles do in NYC is how they turn the lights.

Not pressure sensors, inductive loops that sense the large mass of metal above them.

I realize you have a degree in ballsweat but I am pretty sure pressure sensors are used, if not dominant. Can you point me to a source? I don't have one besides word of mouth and would love to be corrected, I havent done the research.

Pressure sensors may be used, but not commonly. Pressure sensors are more commonly used at places like fast food drive thrus.

I would think inductive loops would last a lot longer since nothing about them moves or really endures any wear.

Unless you plan to map out the points I don't see why a GPS would work. Even if the GPS was setup to know where traffic signals were it would have to do it at all of them as it doesn't know where the cameras were. GPS isn't updated constantly either, so when new lights/cameras were put up it could be a good while before they would be updated.

Now is the reason you aren't sharing because you are working on something to sell?

There are constantly updated GPS databases of speed cameras, red light cameras, etc.

I have them programmed in to my GPS to give me a voice warning before I reach them.

Of course you can never be fully up to date, but it's good enough.
